That's a shame. I heard he left because he wanted to take the film into a darker, more horror-like direction. I hope this doesn't eliminate Wanda's major part in the film.

Of course, and probably Marvel and Iger want it to be a generic film like most of them.

WandaVision is supposed to tie into this movie, so Wanda's part is probably safe.

Apparently, Marvel still wants to start filming in fourth months, which is actually more time than when they had to scurry to find a director for Ant-Man after Edgar Wright left. And in the end, a lot of the fan favourite parts in Ant-Man (Luis's recaps, Hope's expanded role) came about after Peyton Reed signed on. So I wouldn't worry.

That's true and Marvel has promised a big role for her in the upcoming years. WandaVision was even pushed up so I wonder if the issue here was that Marvel was trying to force him to implement aspects of the show (plus the Loki one which I heard will also connect) and he was against the meddling.

I think Raimi wouldn't be a bad choice. He already directed the first Spider-Man trilogy for Marvel and, like Derrickson, also started his career making horror movies.

Didn't respond to this before but I completely agree with you. I don't blame Rachel McAdams for not returning for the same reason I don't blame Jessica Chastain for turning down the role. The same reason why Natalie Portman was done with the MCU after Thor: The Dark World, because her role wasn't really worthy, up until they decided to follow the comics and transform her into the new Thor.

Sony said Friday that it is moving their Spider-Man: Homecoming threequel to Nov. 5, 2021 instead of keeping their original July 16 date next year.

Disney then announced that Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would no longer be on November 5, 2021, rather spring to March 25, 2022.
