'Star Wars': Billy Dee Williams Reprising Role as Lando Calrissian

Sounds a bit like a form of damage control after that recent fan backlash. All those uber-fans who complained about TLJ will now probably have an incentive to see Episode IX.

I’m all for Lando returning. But I’ll only be truly onboard of Mark Hamill comes back to reprise his role as Luke, even if he is a Force Ghost.

I've heard he's confirmed to be back. Especially since he's said numerous times that he hated having to grow a beard for the role but he's still sporting it. I wonder if Lando was brought back because of the flack Lucasfilm received for not featuring him in The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: Episode IX will begin filming August 1 at London’s Pinewood Studios, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant joining the main cast that also will include Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian as had been tipped.

Disney and Lucasfilm also said today that the role of Leia Organa will be played by Carrie Fisher, using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fisher, who starred in the original trilogy with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford and appeared in 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, died in December 2016.

“We desperately loved Carrie Fisher,” director J.J. Abrams said in announcing the news on StarWars.com. “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie [Lourd], we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

I'm very glad to hear that the classic characters of Luke, Leia, and Lando will all be returning. Lando's been confirmed for some time but Luke's role was more ambiguous. So glad that Carrie Fisher will still have some part in the film especially with the blessing of her family. I know they talked about how much they wanted to have her in the new film in some shape or form and I'm glad that this will be possible.

^I agree. I think it's a good and respectful solution for bringing her back.

JoBlo.com is reporting that Matt Smith (the Eleventh Doctor on "Doctor Who") has been cast in an as-yet-unknown role.

Star Wars: Episode IX Could Rewrite Rey's Lineage, Kylo Ren's TLJ Reveal To Be Retconned
http://epicstream.com/news/NobelleBorin ... -Retconned

I liked The Last Jedi, but I know a lot of people didn't and say that Star Wars is ruined now. I'm upset that J.J Abrams couldn't have directed it, though...I hope if he changes plot points from TLJ that it's explained well...like did Kylo think Rey's parents were someone else? Was he just trying to break her spirit? J.J. just better not pretend that exchange happened, and give an explanation!

As long as they torpedo that horrible Reylo pairing out of existence, I'm ok. Seriously, that is trashy Twilight in Space crap that Disney shouldn't have allowed in the first place.

Hmm, I kind of both like and dislike the subtitle. It's nice, simple and fitting for the main saga conclusion, but at the same time it's not very Star Wars-y.

According to the Star Wars fandom, that source is highly unverified and this title is anything but legitimate.

^You're talking about the title, right? Yeah, I figured as much. It'd be weird for the last episode of The Skywalker Saga to just be called Skywalkers.

Yes, I meant the title. I could see Skywalker(s) possibly being in the title but I doubt it would be the sole word.
