While originally planned for theatrical exhibition, Noelle (formerly Nicole), starring Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader and Shirley MacLaine is being released on Disney's streaming service in fall 2019.
The movie revolves around Santa’s daughter, who is forced to take over the family business when her father retires and brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight. MacLaine will play Elf Polly who was Nicole’s nanny and helped raise her all of her life.

Shirley MacLaine deserves better projects than this. :/

‘Nicole’ Moved Off Schedule
http://deadline.com/2018/03/disney-live ... 202307448/

Do they know that the title changed? And that it's moving to the streaming service? Or is it really axed for now?

^They do since they mention it in the article. They're the ones who broke the news about it moving to the streaming service. Don't know why they're still calling it by its previous name in the headline though.

^ That wasn't in there when I first read/posted it. It also didn't have the long list at the end. It just mentioned "Mulan" & it just said that the Anna Kendrick-Christmas movie "Nicole" was moved off the schedule, & it mentioned "Infinity War" and "Christopher Robin." In their comments, I put:

“Nicole” had been renamed “Noelle,” and was going to premiere on Disney’s new streaming service. Does this mean that it’s been axed for now?

Anna Kendrick does have lots of young fans so it's strange that Disney would relegate this to their streaming service. Unless they hope she'll be a bigger draw for their streaming service.

This looks like it could be entertaining.

This looks cute, and the budget looks bigger than I expected— I was thinking this would be ABC Family or Hallmark quality (I’d forgotten it was ever slated for anything besides the streaming service) but it really looks like it could have been a theatrical release. A+ cast, too. Interesting...

Since I saw the trailer at the D23 expo, I think this is the Disney+ original content I am looking the most to watch (without including Star Wars and Marvel contents).

Has no one here seen this yet? I want to see it; I adore Anna Kendrick, but I keep putting it off to watch shows + I've just been busy. But I will watch it soon hopefully!! In Parade magazine a few weeks ago, there was a small interview with Anna, who said that she'd always wanted to be in a Christmas movie.

Um, more than a year later I finally watched this. I LOVED it. I laughed, I cried. Very sweet movie with a modern twist. I love everything w/ Anna Kendrick, and she was amazing. She was reminiscent of a Disney princess, singing to get her pet reindeer to come. And she was referred to as "Princess." I highly recommend this!!

I was debating just editing my previous post in case no one else cares about this film, but I thought this trivia tidbit was too neat to not share:
Noelle (2019)

Was adapted from an unused premise for "The Santa Clause 4". This is referenced when Noelle is in the mental hospital and the psychologist says she sees 2 other patients who believe they are the Tooth Fairy and Mother Nature.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5097410/tr ... =tr5408093

I haven't seen but clips maybe of the 2nd and 3rd Santa Clause movies, and read plot descriptions a long time ago, so I don't know if the Tooth Fairy and Mother Nature references were from the 2nd or 3rd movie, or if they were to be used in The Santa Clause 4.

My husband mentioned Disney having Santa die, and I said that that had previously been done by Disney in The Santa Clause.

I wonder if they made this instead of making it TSC4 because they didn't want backlash for not having Tim Allen in it, or because Nick and Noelle weren't that version of Santa's children...

This is so interesting! The Tooth Fairy (who is a man) and Mother Nature both appear in The Santa Clause 2 (I don't remember if they also appear in the third one)

So, basically Noelle is Tim Allen's daughter! :o

^ Cool, thank you for letting me know! I have Disney+ so if they're on there, I really should check them out; the original is a holiday staple.

That's interesting. It's strange Disney opted to do an original film over expanding a franchise. I wonder why plans for a 4th one fell apart. To be honest, I'd rather we got The Santa Clause 4 instead of Noelle.

I guess they didn't want to kill Tim Allen... and also, Charlie loves Christmas and being the next Santa Claus, he wouldn't let her little sister being Santa...
