Brave is getting a sequel? :?
Now Disney are said to be planning a sequel to the fairytale cartoon which could give another welcome shot in the arm to the Angus tourism sector.

Kevin McKidd said he wanted the follow-up to have a happy ending with a royal wedding.

He said: “I feel bad for young MacGuffin that he didn’t get the girl, but it may be in the sequel. Young MacGuffin, even though he can’t be understood by anyone, his heart is in the right place. He’s very sincere. He’s kind of socially awkward and shy, but he would be the right pick for Merida. At one point in the second year it was on the cards that Merida was going to pick him and that she saw in him something that she really liked, and they were going to walk off into the sunset at the
end of the movie, but then that all changed.”

Smells like bullshit to me. It's just a voice actor speculating.

I believe he is right that at one point, there were plans to pair Merida and one of the heirs up. Heard that somewhere else.

Yeah, they mention that was considered in one of the Blu-Ray bonus features.

But, yeah, every time one of the voice actors mentions a sequel, it's always a false claim. Plus, notice the interview says he "wants" a sequel. So, yeah. McKidd has been saying since the summer that Merida ends up with his character. Obviously, he left the premiere before the last scene of the movie.

I actually hope this happens because I would love there to be a awkward prince.

Merida with an awkward guy? Heh. Why do you think Disney didn't give Ling a chance with Mulan?

He was a side character and not the focus of the movie.

I thought that was old news. I read somewhere last summer that Disney were planning a sequel to Brave.

It is not news. There is no indication that a sequel to Brave is being developed. Pixar already have a lot of projects on their hands.

I wouldn't be taken aback if they were working on a sequel, considering they've made unnecessary sequels before and even sequels to lesser films than Brave. Not sure what story they could tell that would be interesting (even the original couldn't manage that), but I wouldn't put it past them.

No, there is no need for this. I'm sure there stories that could be told with the characters; of this I have no doubt....but there is no public calling for one. I dont think audiences took the film or characters to their hearts as they could have done.

Part of the idea for Brave was NOT to pair Merida up with anyone.

Yeah, I just realized that :/ The part of her being married would go against what Brave taught to the audience.

^Agreed. Disney/Pixar should have at least one token heroine who doesn't have a romantic interest (besides their little girls like Alice). I personally don't have any interest in seeing another story about Merida & Co. My main interest in Brave is the mother-daughter relationship and the fact that Merida has no love interest. A second movie focusing on Merida and love interest would kinda ruin it for me. :P

The director of Oscar-winning Disney/Pixar movie Brave has said that if the right story was found, the cast and characters of the animated movie could re-assemble for a sequel.

Andrews said: "If I get the right story it would be fun. Get the gang back together again, add a few more new characters, find out what Scottish talents are out there who have yet to do an animated film and may want to – that would be fun. We never make a film at Pixar to have a sequel but it’s always nice when we do. We have the philosophy that if we have the right story, then we will, surely. The marketing and success of Brave says that you can have one and they will come. Make it and they will come. But whether we are going to or not I don't know, but it would be fun to do another one."

Oh good God.

Luckily it sounds like someone just asked Mark Andrews about a potential sequel and he answered the question without giving a 'yes' or a 'no', because that's how these questions are handled. I don't think a sequel is on the cards as the article suggests.

And to be honest, Brave didn't make enough money in order to justify a sequel. It performed very poorly overseas for a PIXAR feature. Ralph is even catching up to it overseas, so that is much more likely to get a sequel because it was a critical and commercial darling, unlike Brave.

Well, if they should make a sequel, they should at least have a story and a solid one. Sorry, but I'm one of those who thought "Brave" was storywise pretty weak and thin.

A SEQUEL to the blockbuster Disney-Pixar movie Brave is on the cards - once the film-makers find a good enough storyline.

The Oscar-winning director of the film set in the Scottish Highlands signalled a follow-up was likely thanks to the success and marketing campaign which came out of last year’s fantasy adventure.
