My brother interjected chick-a-pin hill and I laughed remembering Song of the South. I also got this idea for a game. Just post any names you thought were funny or weird in Disney movies. Make sure you include the Disney movie it came from. Here's some I thought of (though some were names from their original books):

Chick-a-pin Hill ~ Song of the South
Mount Wanaahakalooie ~ Finding Nemo
Mr. Winky ~ The Adventures of Ichabod Crane and Mr. Toad
Weebo ~ Flubber

Add to the list if you can think of more!

I didn't necessarily think they were weird (I'm too into fantasy, I guess, to think any name is strange; lol), but from Lilo & Stitch, names like Pleakley and Jumba. Gantu.

"It seems we have underestimated Jumba and Blinkley."
"Uh, it's Pleakley..."
"Whatever!"

lol. Nice exchange beween the Grand Councilwoman and Gantu, messing up Pleakley's name.

Uh...
Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Sarabi, Sarafani, Timon, Pumbaa, Kovu, Zira, Nutka, Nitani, Taran, Eilonwy, Gurgi, HenWen, Aladdin, Jasmine, Rajah, Abu, Jafar, Gaston, Cogsworth, Lumiere, FiFi (or Babette), Madame de la Grande Bouche, Quasimoda, Esmeralda, Pheobus, Frollo...

I could go on, but I'm tired of typing names.

Honestly, how many of these names would we actually have heard of if not for the Disney films?

Honestly, I have heard of a few of them in reference to real live people not just disney. I know a little old lady named Taran. She goes to my church. I know Taran sounds like a male name but she has that name. Also, Aladdin wasn't a name that Disney came up with. In fact, the same is true for many of the names you listed. Jasmine has been a popular name in other countries way before the Aladdin film came out. Lastly, Esmeralda is definitly a name I have heard of. I know an old lady named that also. :)

I think Jasmine is pretty common, and Esmerelda is, or at least used to be. I'll give you the rest, even if Disney didn't come up with a lot/most of them. But for that matter, you can add Cinderella, Aurora, Maleficent, Merryweather, Flora, Fauna, Mulan, Ariel, Triton, Scuttle, Doc Terminus, Eglantine, Lampie

I think one of the beauties of fantasy is that names are often derived from multiple words whose meanings pertain to the character or its situations.
