Ok, so, how this slipped under my radar, I'll never know! But, as a huge fan and collector of the vintage anthology series, you can imagine my absolute surprise and shock when I found that several episodes are available to purchase through Disney Movies on Demand! They seem to be primarily consisting of episodes already available on several dvd-bluray releases, but, I have found a few nuggets such as "Perilous Assignment"; which is all about the making of "Third Man on the Mountain" and the very first episode of the "Wonderful World of Color" which has the very first introduction of Ludwig Von Drake

I just checked, and they're on itunes too. $10 to buy, $4 to rent for each.

Hopefully Dr Syn and Disneyland Showtime will be made available too at some point.

A 42 minute TV episode to buy on itunes typically goes for $2.50 SD and $3.50 HD so $10 for one SD episode is indeed steep.

They should be listed as TV seasons under "The Wonderful World of Color" or "The Wonderful World of Disney" to make them easier to find.

From what I can tell, here is the list of episodes released on Disney Movies Anywhere, iTunes and Amazon Digital. Not that some are only available for rental:

Season One
- "Operation Undersea"
- "Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier" (Comprises first 3 of 5 episodes.)
- "Davy Crockett and the River Pirates" (Comprises last 2 of 5 episodes.)

Season Two
-"The Story of the Animated Drawing"

Season Three
-"The Plausible Impossible"
-"Tricks of Our Trade"
-"The Liberty Story"

Season Five
-"I Captured the King of the Leprechauns"

Season Six
-"Perilous Assignment"

Season Eight
-"An Adventure in Color/Mathmagic Land"
-"The Prince and the Pauper"

Season Nine
-"The Magnificent Rebel"

Is any of these sold in HD?
If not I'm not interested as I own them on DVD

From what I can tell they are Standard Definition, but, are very clean prints! Also "Prince and the Pauper" and "Magnificent Rebel" seem to be the theatrical edits and not the individual episodes

Correct on all points. Also, the Davy Crockett titles are film cuts as well.

Hello All,

Just in case you also have not noted. These seem to be the ones that are being shown on TCM every 3 months.

I guess if they exhaust the supply soon, either they have to issue new eps, or only broadcast non-eps on TCM

Regards,
CJ

I find it so frustrating to try and make any attempts at getting the anthology series on some sort of format that I can enjoy...Over the year I have been able to make contact with some collectors who had bootleg( vhs rips, tv recordings) of the many different incarnations of these episodes. Many time, I have found that the television films, were many times more enjoyable than their theatrical counterparts of the same time frame...I mean "The Prince and the Pauper, Dr. Syn-Scarcrow, Horse Without A Head, Kilroy and the Gallegher series"!! excellence!! Anyways, the older serials are pretty awesome as well, "Elfego Baca, Swamp Fox and Andy Burnette" are very enjoyable. Sadly, there is a smaller pool of collectors out there now, many collectors who are unwilling to share/trade/sell and I am afraid that, unless Disney shows some effort in opening the vaults...many of these will soon be forgotten.

on itunes I've also found Disneyland around the seasons and it's in HD.
Really would like to buy it but 15 bucks for 51 minutes is too steep

well, it seems that there have been some other titles added from the anthology series; "Run Appaloosa Run", "Hacksaw", "The Sultan and the Rock Star", "Justin Morgan Had A Horse"....from the previews, they seem to be clean prints and much better than their vhs/dvd/bootleg counterparts that have circulated. i am a bit disappointed that there seems to be no order or categorizing to the available digital films
