I was thinking of getting this on blu ray but from reviews on Amazon, they removed the song, "When Love Is Gone?" Why would Disney do this? Anyone know?

That song was removed in the original theatrical release because it was deemed too "boring" for kids by Jeffrey Katzenberg, the evil villain who also wanted to remove Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid :| The original home video release reinstated it so many people got used to the film with that song included, but more recent releases have removed it again for some dumb reason

Personally I think it's a lovely/heartbreaking scene and the film loses a lot of its emotional depth without it, but of course we can't have the three year olds bored for two minutes

Probably should have Glen Keane on set going: "But Jeff, remember how you wanted to trim out Part of Your World, I insisted we keep it and it ended up being one of the most played songs by almost every little 3-4-year old girl?"

As Henson explains, the scene’s original film negative is required to restore it, and Disney has been unable to locate the footage, much to the director’s consternation. “They always say, ‘It’ll show up. Negatives never permanently get lost, they just get put in the wrong place,’” he says. “For years and years, I’d call them every six months and see how they were doing. And they actually even put together a team and a little budget to try to find it, and they still couldn't. It’s very frustrating.”
Oh for the love of God...

When I was little, I loved this song (I still do), so I would have loved it kept in the movie; I loved "Part of Your World" and never fidgeted; I've always been obsessed with that song. And I would have loved "If I Never Knew You" being in the film as a kid. What kinds of kids did they get to go to test screenings?! They're why we can't have nice things!

Oh how lovely. I expect it will be on Disney+ if not by this Christmas, then next. And hopefully we will get a 4K BD release, too!

I can confirm that the scene has not yet been put back into the film for Disney+; I'm watching it now & just watched the scene that it would have been in...

Yes, it is. It just hasn't been inserted back into the movie. I figured it'd be too soon, but I had just wanted to confirm!

I was at this panel, and it was such a cool time. The highlight may have to have been when Jodi Benson came out to sing "When the Love is Gone", which, wow. Still have goosebumps!

2002 US DVD release, it carried the two parental screens that went unused at that point, and skipped to the warning screens because the film's content was rated G.
