Yeah, as far as I remember, the story was never confirmed by other more reputable websites, right? It's also possible that initially they hadn't planned to have such a diverse cast and that's when she was considered for the role. Or maybe their source got the project wrong and confused it with the Pirates of the Caribbean movie she's making for Disney.

Yara Shahidi Opens Up About Prepping to Play Tinker Bell in Disney's Live-Action Peter Pan
https://people.com/movies/yara-shahidi- ... an-remake/
"I know my brother, who is my theoretical next door roomate, has heard me putting around my room trying to figure out, 'How does Tinker Bell walk? How does she land?' " the actress shared. "But it's been a really fun prep process."

"I've started the kind of motion capture of it all and we're just trying to figure out how we portray Tinker Bell and she's gonna be like five inches tall on-screen," Shahidi added. "But we've had a really fun time and preparation has ranged from running through lines to creating playlists."

Mary Darling has been cast.
British actress Rebecca Hall – known for her roles in films such as The BFG, Iron Man 3, and the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong – will be playing Mrs. Darling in the movie. In Peter Pan & Wendy, the character was described to us as an empathetic, beautiful, and English woman who lives with her family in the early 1900’s and strives to make Wendy understand the importance of growing up and attending boarding school.

That last part is interesting. Now we know how they plan to make this version more feminist than the original.

Turns out the role of Mrs. Darling is still available.

^I suspected that could be the case since it wasn't confirmed by more important websites. I guess we'll soon know who they really cast in the role.

Principal photography on the live-action adventure/fantasy “Peter Pan & Wendy” has commenced in Vancouver. The film is directed by David Lowery (“Pete’s Dragon”) and produced by Jim Whitaker (“Pete’s Dragon”). “Peter Pan & Wendy” will premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

Based on J. M. Barrie’s novel “Peter and Wendy” and inspired by the 1953 animated classic, “Peter Pan & Wendy” is the timeless tale of a young girl who, defying her parents’ wishes to attend boarding school, travels with her two younger brothers to the magical Neverland. There, she meets a boy who refuses to grow up, a tiny fairy and an evil pirate captain, and they soon find themselves on a thrilling and dangerous adventure far, far away from their family and the comforts of home.

The film stars Jude Law (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”) as Captain Hook; Yara Shahidi (“Grown-ish”) as Tinker Bell; Ever Anderson (“Black Widow”) as Wendy; Alexander Molony (“The Reluctant Landlord”) as Peter Pan; Molly Parker (“House of Cards”) as Mrs. Darling; Alan Tudyk (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) as Mr. Darling; newcomers Joshua Pickering as John; Jacobi Jupe as Michael and Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tiger Lily; and Jim Gaffigan (“The Jim Gaffigan Show”) as Smee.

“Peter Pan has long been one of my favorite stories, partially because I’ve always resisted growing up, but also because of the heart, adventure and imagination that makes J.M. Barrie’s original tale so evergreen,” says David Lowery. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to redefine his iconic characters for a new generation - and even more excited that I get to do so with such an exceptional cast and crew.”

I’m sure they will. Most likely they probably are taking whatever tech from the live action Little Mermaid and going to apply it to this movie to save costs. Designs won’t be the same obviously but the tech (at least computer wise) most likely will be. Probably why they’re in production at the same time.

I haven't read this whole thread so this is my first time finding out Jude will be Hook. Had the biggest obsession with him around the time he did AI, heh. :embarrassed:
He was great as Dumbledore, I dont know if him as Hook will work. I agree Phoenix would be a better choice.
He's my first choice for Professor X when they bring the X-Men to the MCU, if not that then a younger Picard if they(Paramount?) ever make a Star Trek TNG reboot.

Oh, for some reason I didn't think you had seen the last film. Yes, Adam Driver had a much smaller role and for a film that was marketed on his connection with Rey, they barely shared any screentime together and Adam's character doesn't have a single line after he is redeemed (unless you count "ow"). Most of his scenes from the novelization and graphic novel were deleted including the origin of his connection with Rey and his encounter with Chewbacca. Perhaps even a scene where Lando commiserates on young Ben. The character was also unfairly killed off despite being the most popular in the entire trilogy and having a whole life ahead of him and the LFL Story Group was similarly pissed by this decision as they always envisioned him as surviving. When the last Skywalker has been killed off ending the line forever, that isn't a happy ending at all like JJ Abrams claims. His death also has no weight because Rey doesn't get even one second to mourn him. JJ wanted that happy ending so he sweeps his death away and Rey acts like nothing ever occurred.

Haven't seen the film yet but I had heard about this. My guess is that he was redeemed to please his fans but then promptly killed off because he was considered by many in the Twitter/Tumber/online SJW sphere to be a toxic white male. I just hope Jen Lee hasn't seen the film b/c I'm worried it might...give her ideas.
