The Muppets (2015)

Another top brand from Disney’s portfolio may be getting a series treatment on ABC. The network has ordered a presentation for a comedy pilot featuring the Muppets. The presentation is being written by veteran comedy showrunners Bill Prady, co-creator of blockbuster The Big Bang Theory, and Bob Kushell (Anger Management). Details about the premise are being kept under wraps, but I hear the show would be set behind the scenes of a late-night talk show, with most signature Muppets, led by Kermit the Frog, on tap. Prady and Kushell executive produce, with Kushell serving as showrunner as Prady has his gig on Big Bang. Disney-owned The Muppet Studios (Disney bought rights to the Muppets characters in 2004) is co-producing with ABC Studios.

I'm not crazy about the talent attached to write this, but I'll always check out anything Muppet-related. Let's hope this works!

Well at least prior to being involved with Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady worked with and for Henson for years in the 80's and early 90's ending around the time of Muppet*Vision 3D.

Take note; "a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages". This makes me feel better.
Perhaps this show will also give Disney more motivation to release (and clear rights double time) to the remaining seasons of The Muppet Show (not to mention a 40th AE of the first season).

So excited for this!
I feel like it'll be aired as winter filler like Galavant was, but that's probably the best spot for it anyway.

Do you all think that it's likely that they'll release Season 1 on DVD/Blu-ray? (Don't most new shows get that treatment these days?) I don't have TV Access (just Netflix/YouTube), and I can't wait to see this show!!!

Anyone else watched this yet? They re-aired the first two episodes before OUAT last night, so I was able to catch what I'd missed.
I thought it was pretty good myself, and I read it's done well in the ratings, too (hopefully it'll stay that way). Miss Piggy's tantrum at the beginning of the second episode was hilarious.

I've been highly anticipating this show, but I don't have TV service...I do have the "Watch ABC" app, so I need to see if I can watch the episodes pronto!!

I hope you'll get to see this eventually, blackcauldron85. There are a lot of shows I don't get to see until after they've aired, too. Waiting on Downton Abbey and A Place to Call Home while they're airing elsewhere sucks. Who knows when I'll get to see Sailor Moon Crystal.
Episode 3 was boring, but this last episode was up there with 2 for me as the best so far. Beaker doing Cher in "I Got You, Babe" had me rolling. I liked that they had the other muppets actually get along with Miss Piggy.

I'm glad they're back on tv and it does have its moments but I don't think I like the format much.
