I just thought, with all the Oscar talk, this would be fun for everyone to give their opinions. Who do you think should've won the Best Animated Feature at the Oscars each year? You can include films that weren't nominated, if you think a film was robbed. You could use this list at Wikipedia of films released each year.

2006: A Scanner Darkly, for pure innovative merit because little else of note came out that year (which I just found out was made by Richard Linklater, who directed Boyhood. The academy never gives him a break, don't they? Anyways, if this was at least nominated, maybe some people would realize that western animation can be "serious, Oscar-baity adult films")
2007: Ratatouille
2008: WALL-E
2009: The Secret of Kells
2010: Toy Story 3
2011: Kung Fu Panda 2
2012: ParaNorman
2013: Puella Madoka Magica: Rebell-no, I kid, if non-Miyazaki anime films aren't recognized than huge, confusing anime franchise films definitely won't be either (despite superb animation, music and art design, the Madoka movie would make absolutely no sense to anyone who isn't already familiar with the original series). Anyways, Frozen deserved its win and The Wind Rises was very lukewarm.
2014: The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, although I'm glad that out of the big American releases Big Hero 6 won. (besides the Lego Movie but I don't care because that performance of Everything is Awesome with the Lego Oscars totally made up for it) BH6 was just much stronger writing-wise than HTTYD2, especially in regards to humor and the pacing of emotional moments.

Bonus Next Year Prediction!:
2015: Inside Out. Neither Ghibli or Disney is producing anything. Dreamworks only has Home. There's also that stop-motion adaptation of The Little Prince, the Peanuts Movie, The Good Dinosaur (Pixar competing with itself) and the Shaun the Sheep Movie (because Aardman and 100 on Rotten Tomatoes) that I think all probably will have chances to be nominated, but won't win against Pixar's big emotional comeback.

Ghibli's When Marnie Was There will likely get a release this year and could be a contender. Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet has also had a lot of buzz, and with GKIDS distributing could give it a strong chance. But those will probably get nothing more than a nomination. I agree with you and think Inside Out is the most likely winner. The Good Dinosaur, too, depending on how much they've been able to salvage.

2001: Monsters, Inc.

Shrek was a cultural powerhouse in 2001, but Monsters, Inc. was the better film and has stood the test of time much better than the actual winner.

2002: Lilo & Stitch or Spirited Away.

It is my personal belief that Spirited Away should have competed (and won) for the Best Foreign Language film in 2001, or possibly even Best Animated Picture if the Academy would have allowed it (it would have won there too). It's original Japanese recording being a much stronger film than dubbed version. No doubt Spirited Away is one of the best dubbed features of all time, but it should be judged on its original rendition for things like the Oscars. If Spirited Away had not competed Lilo & Stitch would be the undisputed winner of 2002. It is a shame that the Academy's weird rules regarding foreign language films kept Lilo & Stitch from the award stage that year.

2003: Finding Nemo.

No competition.

2004: The Incredibles.

Again, no competition here.

2005: Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

It is a shame Corpse Bride wasn't a better movie, because Were-Rabbit is really my least favourite W&G animation.

2006: Happy Feet.

A very weak year produces a weak winner.

2007: Ratatouille.

Though I love Meet the Robinsons more, and The Simpsons Movie was truly a moment in animated history, Ratatouille was a standout.

2008: Wall-E.

Should have been nominated for, and probably won, Best Picture as well.

2009: Up.

If The Princess and the Frog had of been just a wee bit better it would have taken it since Up really falls apart in the second act.

2010: Toy Story 3.

Really an award for the whole Trilogy (As each of the first two would have taken the award as well if it had existed), but being the best of the three movies certainly didn't hurt its chances.

2011: Winnie the Pooh.

Unfortunately dismissed as childish fluff. Winnie the Pooh was Disney's best animated film since Lilo & Stitch (yes even better than Tangled) and should have been rightfully recognized as such.

2012: Brave.

Pixar's most beautiful film may be weaker on story than most of it's cannon, but the technical animation is so top-drawer that I don't see how it could have lost (this was back when only animators voted for the winner of this category remember).

2013: Frozen.

Nothing came close. Even with the over-saturation in the media Frozen excels on more levels than most of the previous nominees.

2014: How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Lost likely because it is a sequel to a movie that didn't win that isn't named Toy Story. As someone who generally dislikes Dreamworks Animation (both on a visual and storytelling level) How to Train Your Dragon 2 was spectacular. Big Hero 6 was a good movie, but it shouldn't have been good enough.

I'll make a list later, but I'm surprised and saddened to see that Persepolis has been too few people's choice for 2007.

I liked Persepolis and thought it was a good film, but my pick for 2007 will likely be Ratatouille .

Persepolis is a great movie and would certainly make my Best Animated Feature ballot of that year. But if I can only pick one film from that year, it would be Ratatouille.

I'm only choosing from the ones that were nominated each year. Maybe later I'll do one from all of the films released. I'm trying to be as objective as possible so my picks are not necessarily my favorite ones. Also, I haven't watched some of these in a long time so I'm not sure I would feel the same if I watched them now.

2001 - Waking Life. One of my favorite films to watch. It's utterly mesmerizing. Wish it would get a Blu-ray release... Perhaps from Criterion. It reminds me so much of another Criterion film, My Dinner with Andre. Both films really have no right to be as entertaining as they are, considering how mundane they SHOULD be on paper.

2002 - Lilo & Stitch.

2003 - Tokyo Godfathers.

2004 - The Incredibles.

2005 - Howl's Moving Castle.

2006 - A Scanner Darkly.

2007 - Ratatouille. Easily.

2008 - Kung Fu Panda.

2009 - The Princess and the Frog/Coraline. Honestly, this is such a toss-up for me. Tie!

2010 - My Dog Tulip. Surprised this one didn't get more attention...

2011 - Kung Fu Panda 2.

2012 - ParaNorman. Easily. My favorite film of the past three years.

2013 - Undecided. Need to see more of the films from this year before I commit.

2014 - Ditto 2013.
