Academy Awards, Feb. 22, 2015 Discussion............

Have not seen anyone here talking about the Academy Awards, which are just a little more than a week away. So here goes my thoughts.
Probably the clearest choice for Best Picture of the Year is "The Theory of Everything". Eddie Redmayne is also my choice for Best Actor because of his wonderful portrayal of Stephen Hawking. I look for these two Awards to be sure things this year.
After all the talk about how it took 12 years to make, "Boyhood" director Richard Linklater should win this hands down. Two or three weeks a year for 12 years is a long time for a movie that is just over 2 and 1/2 hours long.
Best animated film, although I don't agree totally, should be "Big Hero 6" from Walt Disney Pictures. My favorite of those nominated is "The Boxtrolls" and I wouldn't be at all surprised if "How to Train Your Dragon 2" wins. But I honestly think that "BH6" will win.
After watching the Golden Globes and the British Film Honors I think that the Award for Best Animated Short Film should go to "Feast".
There are so many great movies this year and I hope that "Birdman" and "Whiplash" get their share of Awards. The dark horse in the Best Picture category, and this is just my opinion, is "The Imitation Game".
The Academy Awards will br broadcast live on CBS beginning at 7 pm Eastern/6 pm Central time on Sunday, February 22.
