The Return of The Disney Afternoon on DVD!

I realize there was a thread about the "Death of the Disney Afternoon on DVD" (http://www.dvdizzy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22823), but after the success with the Disney Movie Club releases that have lead to them being given a wide retail release this week, I think it is clear the DA on DVD is back! As that is the case, I'd rather write in a more positive and upbeat threat about this subject moving forward since they are anything but dead.

I personally have spotted TaleSpin: Volume 3 and DuckTales the Movie at my local Target store and both of those titles as well as Have Yourself a Goofy Little Christmas, Goof Troop: Volume 1, Goof Troop: Volume 2, and Gargoyles: Season 2, Volume 2 are on Amazon.com and have been at WalMart Stores for a few moths as exclusives there. I'm sure they will show up at more retail locations as time goes on, if that is not already the case.

Hopefully, if the word gets out well enough that these exist and the sales numbers of these and the newly printed thin cases from the original DA releases sell well enough, I have little doubt we'll get more. I have heard from sources that know that Disney is considering a DuckTales revival on the Disney Channel and of course that live action Rescue Rangers film is still in the works as of right now. Add the up-coming return of the Darkwing Duck comics from Joe Books to the mix (as well as maybe a few more surprises down the road), and I don't think a better time will come along for at least the final releases of what Disney started with DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles (if you like season 3) and now Goof Troop to finally get full releases on DVD.

Please join me in helping the sales numbers of these new retail releases by picking them up for yourself (if you have not done so yet), buying them as gifts for others (help spread the DA love) and making sure other fans know about these titles. As frustrating as it may be, it's going to probably come down to the fans once again to spread the word. I don't know about the rest of you, but I really, really want DuckTales: Volume 4 in my hands. Help me make this happen! :D

I've been waiting for those DVDs for years and now I finally ordered them all at amazon.com

I can't wait to have them!

And I hope more shows are coming on DVD like Aladdin or The Little Mermaid

I really hope these releases are a new beginning for Disney Afternoon on DVD. Because Bonkers on DVD is long overdue.

I seriously want "Bonkers" and the completion of "Darkwing Duck", "Gummi Bears", "Rescue Rangers", & "DuckTakes".

I'm really, really excited to know we may get the rest of Darkwing. :woot: I'd love to have more DuckTales too. :)

This is slightly OT, but Jim Cummings recently shared one of my DW drawings on his Facebook page! :o

Excellent news. I just ran across them on the Disney store site and popped right over here to see if there was any news.

I'm hoping this results in the release of all of the other series.

It's great to see these in stores, but these actually aren't new releases. They have all been DMC exclusives for quite some time. Awesome that more people will get to see them, but it's not really a new wave of fresh product.
