The Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu Ray has a sneak peek that announces 101 Dalmatians as the next Diamond Edition to be released in February 2015.

Personally, I hope they give us new bonus features instead of recycling the ones from the Platinum Edition DVD (I own that set, btw). Lately, we have seen a decline in bonus features, and the bulk of them is usually the same ones from previous releases under a "Classic Bonus Features" label.

I remember when the Platinum Editions started coming out, and they were really special and worth buying because of all the exclusive extra stuff they packed in. Nowadays a Special Edition or Diamond Edition is nothing but a label. Hardly anything worthwile.

I bought the Sleeping Beauty DE hoping for exciting new stuff - I already have the PE Blu-Ray - and found that it wasn't worth the upgrade, if you could call it that. There is no insert, no second disc, and the bonus features are all the same, except for the addition of 3 deleted/alternate scenes. Granted, it's the second BD release for this film, but they could've done a lot better to make the double-dip worth it.

I hope Disney does a better job with 101 Dalmatians seeing that it will be that film's first BD release.

Anyone care to share what are your expectations for this upcoming release?

Well... the probably won't add anything to the release. I would be happy with all the features from the platinum release, plus a commentary or cine-explore.... a featurette on the xerography process would be cool. Maybe more about the original story?

I wonder if they'll use the same artwork as the international releases but with the Diamond border. Most of the Diamond line have had the sideways titles and if they do use the international cover art that will break the cycle.

The days of extensive extra features on DAC releases are over.

We'll probably see a few newly produced short-length features in HD but I'm more concerned about the existing bonus material from the Platinum release being ported over. Generally the DE's have done a good job of this except for The Lion King and now Sleeping Beauty. Then we have really disappointing non-Diamond sets like Fantasia, The Emperor's New Groove, and Lilo and Stitch which left out almost everything.

I'm hoping they do this release right seeing as it's one of my absolute favorites! I adore Cruella and I hope she makes the cover art!

Don´t get me wrong. I´m glad in the US you´ll be getting it finally. But in Europe (Spain at least) we´re still waiting for The Great Mouse Detective, and both Winnie the Pooh movies.

I´d wish we were talking the release of The Black Cauldron.

As far as the Angeldude98 comments yes, there´s the decline in quality in most releases. However, in the case of Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Pinocchio and maybe Aladdin I don´t see how they could have added more if they already included everything possible.

I'm just hoping that most of the valuable bonus features from the Platinum Edition get ported over. While 101 is not my favorite of the DAC's I do enjoy checking out the available bonus features for all of the DAC's. It would be a shame to see cool things like trailers, TV and radio spots dropped. I'm also hoping that most of the material from the PE's Music & More section gets ported over.

While I was incredibly disappointed in the DE for Sleeping Beauty (I own the SE and PE on DVD but I am going to hunt down a copy of the PE on Blu), I have hopes that the Diamond Edition for 101 will at least be a slight improvement over Sleeping Beauty - after all, Disney isn't exactly making it seem like the DE for Sleeping Beauty was NOT just a quick cash-in on the upcoming Blu-Ray release of Maleficent.

I agree with the review on here for the Platinum Edition of 101 Dalmatians, where it says it should be easy to add more (and better) bonus features, I'm hoping that Disney doesn't drop the ball on this one.

I can't wait to see cover art! I hope Cruella is a big part of it.

Well, there's always more stuff they can add. Those previous releases did leave out some things that were not included. And if there isn't anything new, how about an updated making-of documentary? Original Trailers? Cast/crewmember interviews? There's always stuff to add or to create. And in a worst case scenario, at least they could include everything from the previous release but upgrade the disc and cover/slipcase art. This SL release's cover is nothing compared to the holographic, book-opening slipcover of the Blu-Ray Platinum Release! And the disc art is now completely gone! The discs are either blue with just the title for blu-ray and grey with just the title for DVD. Also, they could include nice booklets or other collectors items like a copy of an animation cell, a docu-booklet of some sort... who knows. Anything to make it worth it to buy it again, right? Sadly Disney is skimping way too much on the current hard-copy disk releases. I remember the days when the release of a Disney movie on a home video format was something really special! I miss those days!

Oh boy! I'm dying to see this on Blu-Ray! And hopefully with the famous deleted scenes included, even if they are just there as bonus features!!! It's one of the few titles left to release on Blu-Ray!

I won't be buying the Diamond 101 Dalmatians as I own the UK blu-ray and the Platinum collectors box and I don't love it enough to buy it again.

It would be nice for Disney to make a bit of an effort considering that this will be its debut on BD in the US. I imagine they will carry most of the extras over and like Sleeping Beauty, tack on a couple of deleted scenes (where do they find them all?) and maybe a 10 minute feature on one of the characters or voice actors - I'd say Cruella but they had a thing about her in the Platinum which I think they will carry over with the making of. I wouldn't forget a short Disneyland/Disney world featurette about something happening. I only assume this because TLM, Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty all had them.

I imagine you will get your sideways title and new artwork unless Disney gives up all pretension of caring.
But at least we'll probably lose the Selena Gomez Video. Disney giveth and all that. I think the games might be lost.

As for nice collectors booklets and animation cells, those days are only a memory. I also really miss when a new Disney release was a small event and exciting and I agree that they could and should do more for the hardcore fans that like to buy these films 2/3/4 + times. I don't think I have any choice but to import Aladdin when and if that finally arrives, unless its just a pressing of the UK disc.

I like the silver a lot better...wish they had done them like that from the beginning...they look more..."diamond"...anyways, how soon does everyone think it will be before a blu-ray combo pack of the two live action Dalmatian films will follow?

I was wondering that too. I also wonder if they'll do a Blu-Ray combo pack for Patch's London Adventure?

Wish it was more like the printed ad in the Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray but it still looks great and yes, thank god it's not gold

Gosh, I think it looks awful ….. is this going to be the main cover, or is it like Mermaid having a version of the cover where its gold ?

I wish all the Diamonds would match in some way, seems so messy otherwise.

they are so inconsistent with these covers now. Sleeping Beauty didnt have the characters in an oval with a one color background like this and Jungle Book...I wonder if Best Buy will have an exclusive holo cover like with Sleeping Beauty.

I really miss the Target digibooks. To think we could have had nice digibooks for JB, SB, and this. Stupid parents complaining about their kids dropping the discs.
