Depends.
With Amazon = You need to have either prime to get the free 2 day shipping, or you just pay for the 2 day shipping. That's the way to get it on release day.
Target doesn't ship early.
Disney Store ships early and you usually get pre-orders based on where you live.

Don't be too sure. I got Monsters University from them and it came a day early before the release date.

Many movies I've pre-ordered through The Disney Movie Club have come a day early and in some cases 4 days early. The latest one that arrived yesterday was Thor: The Dark World

Disney Movie Club shipped The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh to me about 2 weeks before its release date. I ordered three movies and they shipped all three together.

That one was actually available to DMC members a month before the general release date. The wide release was on August 27th but the early DMC release was July 29th. The're currently doing the same thing with The Jungle Book 2.

Will they be doing the same with Frozen?

No, the only early release for Frozen is the digital release which came out last Tuesday, February 25th.

Pre-ordered both Frozen DVD and Saving Mr. Banks DVD from DMC and I'm not sure when they'll arrive but I received an e-mail saying they've been shipped.

Ordered Thor- The Dark World through the Disney Movie Club (to fulfill the requirements of the membership) and believe it or not, it came a day before the release date. Shipping was sent out a week or something before the monday of. ... but I behaved like a good boy and waited to open until the next day. (the digital code wouldn't work until the day of the release, of course!)
This could mean the same thing for Frozen combo pack coming up (what, you expect me to buy a digital-only version this early? Screw that, I'd get the same thing for only a few dollars more with combo packs!)
Target doesn't ship early.
Funny you should say that... 'cause I had gotten The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Target Exclusive 2 days before the release date. And to think Disney would be the only one doing this.)
