I was hoping for Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, but the current Broadway version, but maybe next year.

Me, too!
Bah. I might watch it, depending on the actors. I mean, I've never been a TSoM fan, but I watched that anyway, so the same with PP.

I think part of the appeal of TSOM was that everyone knows the songs. I don't know how many are familiar with the Peter Pan score. And I'm sure there will be those expecting to hear the songs from the Walt Disney film of Peter Pan. Just please don't tell me Justin Bieber will be playing Peter!

I would have preferred Wicked, myself.
Depending on who is in it, I might watch. I never watched TSOM, but if she's as bad as I've heard, please keep Carrie Underwood away from it. Maybe stick to actual broadway actors and actresses, so we know it's in good hands.

Oooooh, nobody's going to touch Wicked until Universal has made their big budget movie version in the next fifteen years.

Personally, I've never seen the Peter Pan musical or know any songs from it, and I don't know anyone else in my generation that knows about it. Most only know the Disney version. When TSOM aired, many people were expecting the movie version and did not know the story was actually a Broadway musical first (even though all the publicity for it stressed this fact), and so I can see people wrongly complaining that NBC "butchered" the Disney classic by deleting songs and adding all these "new" ones. Ugh, people annoy me.
Anyway, they would never do Wicked until Universal puts out a movie. They were looking for familiar titles that the whole family could watch, and which is why TSOM worked. This one, while a familiar title and for a family audience, is sort of a meh choice. I'll still watch!
Rumor has it that they were going to do Cinderella with Mary J. Blige as the fairy godmother, but her schedule could not work, so they decided to do Peter Pan instead. Although Cinderella is not happening, the idea is not completely scraped, so there is hope it'll happen maybe next year if Peter Pan is successful, which I think it will be, but not as successful as Sound of Music.

I hope that Kristin Chenoweth is cast as Peter. That would make my year perfect.

Isn't she 40-something? Although it worked for Mary Martin back then, audiences these days are different and much more critical. Plus, as much as I love Cheno and she is generally known, she's not a big enough star for audiences to tune in. They'll go for someone who is as big as Carrie Underwood. Also, I read they might be casting a male as Peter Pan.

True about the audiences today, but some people will think differently about casting a Broadway name over a well known star because of the really lukewarm responses to Underwood.

The criminally underrated Allison Williams will be playing Peter Pan and Christopher Walken will be playing Captain Hook. I guess I'll have to see this now...

I was surprised to hear this news. The star wattage is a little bit lower than it was last year, but hopefully this production will be much better for it. I wish her luck.

Already this casting has made me excited for
Peter Pan than
The Sound of Music's casting. I didn't see that coming!

Well, how many live versions of Peter Pan are readily available on a daily basis? I haven't seen the show since I was little, so I'll definitely watch this.

Is everyone gonna watch Peter Pan Live!? I preordered the DVD to go along with my Sound of Music Live! DVD.
I hate though that they added some new songs. The original Broadway score was fine.

I'm definitely going to try and watch it, but, if I'm not able to, I'll certainly DVR it. I'm excited to hear Williams sing, but Walken seems like an odd choice to me. But, I'll reserve judgment until I see it.
