Why Hercules and not Heracles?

Maybe it´s a dumb question with an easy answer but please hear me.

Hercules is the Roman name for the character while Heracles is the Greek (an original) name.

So, ¿why Disney didn´t choose Heracles over Hercules?

I said it is going to be a dumb question since I myself can answer it: Hercules is the most well known worldwide.

But still, these are my reasons to go with Heracles:

1. As said it is the true name.

2. Since it isn´t so well known Disney might have had a "unique" name. Hercules is everywhere (movies, TV series, video games...). By choosing Heracles the movie and merchandise would had stand out.

3. It would have been nice for Disney to acknowledge this fact and make people around the world know this.

So, if your answer for my question is the same one I said let me add that in order to make changes someone has to do it.

Look at this DS game:

I just love Greek mythology and like for it to be used properly.

...let´s not mention that famous Greek myth monster: the Kraken.

Side note:

Never understood why they chose a Kraken for the original movie. On top of that, I don´t get why on the remake this wasn´t fixed. Very easy: choose one of the countless Greek myths monsters. Had they done that this movie would have surpassed the original just because of this.

...or, if they HAD to use the Kraken the least they could have done was to make Hades (or whoever) say something like: "This creature I found in the North". Enough.

It was actually the Hydra not the Kraken. The Kraken appeared in Atlantis The Lost Empire.

Because Hercules is better-known and more widely used than Heracles. It also rolls of the tongue much easier -- it's just like Hua Mulan/Fa Mulan.

Do we really need separate threads for this trivial questions like these? Search function exists for a reason.

Heracles' is his original Greek name (he was named in honor of Hera, the wife of Zeus and queen of the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus).

'Hercules' is his later Roman name, and the more well-known of the two.
What Mooky said; Hercules is his more well-known name.

Don't you mean Atlantis 2?

As for Heracles and Hercules, I think Hercules rolls off the tongue better and more people know that name so of course Disney went with it.

It was an Off Topic comment regarding the Clash of the Titans movies.

What is wrong with Clash of the Titans using the Kraken?

That the Kraken is not a creature from Greek mythology.

Oh yea. Then I agree, the Kraken shouldn't have been in it.
