Let´s share our top 3 Pixar movies...

Mine:

1. Finding Nemo: Like animals, always been intrigued about the ocean...and love Dory.

2. Up: The right amount of emotion and comedy. Perfect balance.

3. A Bug´s Life: Don´t know why people dislike it so much. It´s fun and entertaining.

Rocks will be thrown when you see my Top Three Pixar Films. Actually it is really hard to pick just three because Pixar has set the bar so high for other animated films to follow. Here's my three, for now, because it changes on a daily basis or weekly basis.

1. Cars - It combines the wonderful world of NASCAR with the little seen world of just regular cars. Some very good voice-overs, and a really good story.

2. Up - I can watch this movie once a day and still get pleasure out of it each time. Love the story, love the characters, and really like this film a lot.

3. (tie) Wall-E - This one changes its place a lot in my Top Five, but for now it is my third favorite Pixar film currently tied with the next one on my list. I love the simplicity of this film, the love story is a little corny, but I love all the animation and the sub-plot and just overall the whole movie.

3. (tie) Toy Story - The first one out of the box for Pixar and it is still the best of the three "Toy" movies. The voices all fit the characters perfectly and the story is just down right one of the better ones to come along.

Top 3 as follows:

1. Finding Nemo - the characters, the script, voicework the story .... every element works beautifully here. Special mention to Dory, who is my favourite Pixar character of all time.

2. Monsters Inc - an original idea, executed beautifully. The relationship between Boo and Sully is one of the most beautiful seen on screen, live action or animated.

3. Toy Story 2 - my favourite of the three; expanded on the original, but didn't get overly 'big' like sequels can become. (which TS3 narrowly avoided becoming).

I think that is my list - will probably think of a change after, but for now, this is my order.

1. A Bug's Life - A completely underrated film; it has so much heart and it's a very interesting and unique story. The voice acting is great and the characters are loveable. This is undoubtedly my favorite Pixar film.

2. The Incredibles - I'm not the biggest fan of action movies, but I love this film. It's really engaging, the animation is spectacular, and Parr's superpowers are pretty awesome. It's a rough and tumble film and it's always enjoyable to watch. This is the one Pixar film where I wouldn't mind a sequel.

3. WALL·E - I love how little dialog there is in this film; it just goes to show that sound isn't necessary, and actors can do just as much without talking as those who can (that's why I think silent films are amazing). It also gives us a great message that we should protect our Earth. It's a great film with a lot of heart.

Speaking only for myself, I really liked "A Bug's Life" when I saw it theatrically and while it's not a bad movie, it doesn't hold up as much as "Antz" (yes, both films have been compared constantly, but the comparison is inevitable). "A Bugs Life" have too many characters to pay attention and none of them are particularly endearing. The story is quite trite and unengaging. Although Hopper is one of the more dignified Pixar villains (seriously, Pixar has yet to make a villain as good and charismatic as Disney), it's still ridiculous that only one single ant in a entire colony is capable to think for himself, while the rest of the colony are dimwits.

However, although I'm not such a huge fan of Pixar, but I'll still share some of my favorites.

1. Cars. Yes, I'm going against the norm here, but I think it's a genuinely entertaining and charming film. The story is predictable and the film could have been shortened, but I like it anyway. The characters are likeable and charming.

2. Up. With the exception of the lazy choice to make Carl and Ellie's childhood hero the villain, "Up" is film is really a heartwarming and cute film. Dug is adorable and the film deserved the best film nomination.

3. Finding Nemo. Despite that neither Marlin or Nemo are endearing characters, "Finding Nemo" is charming nonethless. It's a cute and enjoyable film with a good story.

That is really though because there are so many that I love.

1. The Incredibles- I love superhero movies and this is my favorite along with The Dark Knight. I love the story and how it plays with the superhero genre. The characters are engaging and memorable (no capes! Love Edna). One thing I really love about the characters is how much screen time and developing each one of the four is given. Clearly, Mr. Incredible is the main protagonist, but the movie isn't just about him. The other 3 family members (not including Jack-Jack) have clear personalities and depth to them and have some kind of arc by the end. The great thing for the audience is that there is one character someone can relate to. Surprisingly, I related to Violet the most. I was always that shy, timid person in grade school with low self-esteem. Of course the action is fantastic with the 100 Mile Dash being one of my favorite scenes in all the Pixar movies. Lastly, Michael Giacchino is my favorite Pixar music composer, and his music here is just fantastic. I can still hum the Incredibles theme in my head lol!

2. Wall-E: Wall-E is one of those rare times I go to see a movie in theaters and when I walk out of it, I say "Wow!". I knew from the first time I watched the movie, it was one of my all-time favorite movies. With repeat viewings, the movie seriously gets better and better for me. Wall-E imo pushed the boundaries of what you can do with animation. The fantastic music from Thomas Newman to the outstanding animation. The dance sequence is such an amazing scene to watch, especially on the big screen. The first 40 minutes of just Wall-E and Eve are just outstanding storytelling that I have never seen in animation. Such little dialogue, yet engaging story and characters. The relationship between Wall-E and Eve was nothing short of beautiful. I think it is easily the most enduring romance in animation. I doesn't feel forced or cliche, just natural. Now of course, I have to talk about the second half of the movie, and honestly I loved that to. I know many people disliked it for being preachy, but I disagree. The moral was more about doing something/proactive in life, not corporation or technology = bad. I mean, the robots and technology helped rebuild the earth after all. Plus, in a day where we see so many movies like Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmpunks try to pass off as family entertaining, it's nice to see a movie like Wall-E come around to teach kids and parents about life. That animation is truly more than just "kids stuff".

3. Toy Story- The first movie that started it all. The movie that put Pixar's name on the map and changed animation for good or bad (however you want to look at it). I've watched this movie on VHS so much was I was little. Even though I love the sequels, but I still think the first one is the best. The great thing about it is though the animation is dated, the characters and story aren't. It's one of those rare movies where I found myself constantly quoting lines from the movies just because of how great the dialogue is. The relationship being Woody and Buzz is great and you do buy their friendship. I'm not the biggest fan of Randy Newman, but even I can admit that the music hear is pretty good. "You've Got a Friend in Me" is still a classic that we all know the words to. "I will go sailing no more" is a song I've liked more and more over the years. Even when a little, I loved the "Strange Things" song and remember constantly humming the melody of the song. So the first Toy Story pretty much holds the most nostalgia for me.

Not in order...
1. Finding Nemo - Well my favorite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid and always has been.. so being able to experience an animated sea again that's done so beautifully was pretty amazing. I love the characters and just the story in general.
2. Up - The fact that I became so invested in the characters so quickly is pretty amazing. I remember seeing Up and thinking what a fresh take on animation it was. Strong characters designs, lovable personalities two really contrasting worlds that fit together perfectly. It's an old story that feels new and was extremely endearing.
3. WALL-E - A children's film without dialog? Characters with limited mobility still depicting human emotion? Subtle but heavy social implications that don't distract from the main story? I'm there.

4. Brave - I don't know if I could say this is a favorite but I adore the animation in this film and watch it pretty often. It has this quick realness to it. The characters are physically so believable and well done. The landscapes and environments, the textures, obviously Merida's hair, but also the fur and water effects... the scene where Merida teaches her mother to fish is just eye candy.

1. Brave - My all time favorite movie. The animation is breathtaking, the attention to detail is outstanding, the characters are amazing, and the Score is fantastic. Everything about this movie is great, the only complaint I have is that it was short. The theme though is perfect in my opinion, or at least for me. It's not about changing yourself for something specific, it's about finding yourself without letting someone else do it for you. And I connect with that message a lot.

2. UP - It is what Pixar is. A movie abut an old guy who ties helium balloons to his house and flies to South America with a little kid, only to encounter talking dogs who can fly airplanes and shoot darts... Yet is amazing. Everyone talks about the first 10 minutes of the movie, but to me, it's the energy. It's gives me a great feeling after I'm done watching it, a fulfillment feeling.

3. Finding Nemo - Need to watch this again, cause the last time I did was like 5 years ago.

1. Ratatouille - my absolute favorite Pixar film.

2. Toy Story 3.

3. Toy Story 2.

Side notes:

1. I was thinking last night how come I don´t feel the love/connection with the Cars characters. Then, it came to mind: they´re cars. How can you?

But at the same time I was watching Toy Story and thought to myself: However, here we have toys and we do care for them.

So, I don´t know why Cars´movies are so bland.

2. I do like Ratatouille and Wall E. But I have to watch them to remember how good they are.

That said... I´m glad several of you have it listed as favorite.

3. How should I arrange my Pixar collection? Don´t know if I should put them the way they were released or put them in group (with their sequels).

This is harder than selecting my favourite animated classics. Not because there's a larger quantity of films I love, but because so many are so close to each other in terms of quality. Bookended between two of the weakest features, A Bugs' Life and Cars, are four films that are all equally superlative. Yet I believe Pixar's crowning achievement, their saddest, funniest, most well-animated and most well-written film, is Up.

Ratatouille’s probably the only other Pixar film I care for. Although there’s a lot I don’t like about it (which is why it would end up 4th, whereas I consider these 3 perfection), I do enjoy the film overall.

All the love The Incredibles is getting baffles me every time. I try to watch it every now and then hoping I'll realize its greatness too but it never happens, and I end up looking at the time waiting for it to finish.
I think it's my least favorite Pixar film.

Now after seeing its incredible (no pun intended) ranking on your lists, I might give it another try again...

Well not everyone is going to like the same movie.

With The Incredibles, most of my love is for Elastigirl/Helen, Edna, and Syndrome. I don’t care for Mr. Incredible too much (though he doesn’t really bother me) or the children--plus Frozone (I’m honestly surprised he wasn’t cut considering how unimportant he is). Honestly, I find Violet my least favorite of the family, although I do like how they tie her self-confidence with her invisibility. Dash is a bit annoying, but he does have my favorite line from the film--“If everybody’s special, then nobody is.” (paraphrased)

Edna is just hilarious, and I still feel Helen is the only fully-developed female character Pixar has made that I like. Jessie and Merida are annoying, Elinor is bland, and I consider Mrs. Potato Head/Mary Bo Peep/Roz/Cecelia/Mirage one-dimensional like Edna even though I enjoy them. (There’s EVE, I guess, but I find her…? Uninteresting?) Syndrome is also a good villain, imo, something Pixar has few of. The only villain they've had that I fully enjoy is Anton Ego, but Syndrome is almost there (I also like Waternoose, although he’s not a great villain at all). I’m not exactly the ideal superhero film viewer, but I don’t dislike them; to me, the movie's appeal is the family relationship, but I do enjoy several of the action sequences.

My least favorite Pixar film is between Cars, Brave, and Up. I don’t care for FN or Wall E too much, but I think they are well-made films regardless with at least some positive points (for me).
