Earlier this year the Brazilian rating board showed us that Castle of Illusion, a platform game developed by SEGA with Mickey Mouse as the main character, was coming for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, WiiU and PS Vita.

There have been murmurings for some time that a re-release of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is on the way, and the appearance of this Xbox Live Arcade box art seems to confirm that the ‘90s Mega Drive/Genesis classic is indeed poised to return. While this is art for the XBLA version, a recent post to the Australian Classification site suggests Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse will also be coming to PS3.

Does anyone know if this might be an indication for a physical release? I know PS3 can stream games (or whatever), but I'm not sure if Xbox 360 or WiiU do the same or not. However it's released, I'm glad for those who can play it, though I hope it's a physical release for myself. I've heard many people talk about it over the years, and I'd like to play it for myself.

Gah, I wish they'd release some of these as mobile games. It's really the only way I play games anymore.

Crossing fingers for Aladdin and The Lion King. I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but those two games dominated my childhood.

This but the Genesis version of Aladdin. I thought that the SNES version of Aladdin was really, really awful.

It would be the Super Nintendo version if Capcom does a remake, since that's the version they made; Virgin Games and Sega did the Genesis game.

Honestly, I'd love to see them make a combination of both games, and give you the option to play either one, since they are both different titles. Maybe if these do well enough, Capcom can talk to Sega about working on something like that.

The Castle of Illusion is non- Capcom from memory so there is a slight chance that it's going to be Genesis. Yeah a choice would be nice. I've noticed that those who love the Capcom version struggle to like and enjoy the Genesis Aladdin and those who love the Genesis Aladdin struggle to love the Capcom Aladdin.

I didn't even know about the capcom Aladdin until recently. Haven't played it but the Genesis looks superior.

The Genesis version has more the music from the game ( Prince Ali, A Whole New World, One Jump Ahead, Friend like Me ) The Capcom only has ( A Whole New World and Friend like Me )

Better gameplay and platform levels, better sound chip, has a sense of humour that matches the movie ( Genie toilet ) and the Rug level when escaping the Cave of Wonders is incredible.

The SNES version had Aladdin do ballet flip-flop moves, it has less impressive colours and graphics and most levels feel like the same.

Though The Whole New World level is extremely beautiful and the ending boss fight and ending is zillion times better than the Genesis version.

I do think that the Genesis version is way better than what Capcom did but the Capcom version does have some highlights about it.

Teaser trailer. No title, but the Snow White motifs and the toy soldiers are a give away.

This is avialble right now. I played the demo on the Playstation 3 and it's fun and looks amazing. The only sad thing is that this seems to not be getting that much attention at the moment and I only realized it was out now because I saw it directly in the Playstation Store

I feel like they really baby'ed it down and it looks like it holds your hands all the way through. The original was quite challenging. The Narrator is annoying as well.

Trying..... to be opened minded though as it was suspected to be different...

but erughughhugh.

Is it still worth getting though or just stay with the original ??

The original is a Super Nintendo/Sega Genesis Game. If you have those and can play them right now, I'd say there's no need to rush to get it. Myself, I'm going to wait on getting this as I got some other games I'll be playing on the PS3 (Ducktales Remastered and Kingdom Hearts 1.5)

The new Castle Of Illusion remake was released on iOS yesterday. At $9.99, the app is compatible with iPhone 4S and above, as well as iPad 3rd Generation and above and requires iOS 6.1 or later.
