Cooooome on. I know you're there!
Season 3 just started and it's awesome. This entire show is brilliant. It has everything, magic, sword fights, good guys, bad guys, Emilia Clarke, dragons and easily the most attractive cast on TV right now.
Thoughts? Or am I alone.

I'm the kind of guy who likes to read before I watch. I have read the first two books and loved them, and I have A Storm of Swords now to go through. Since the third season is supposed to cover about half of that, I think I'll read through it before I start the show up.

Oh cool.
I'm reading the first book. So if there are others, it's best to keep things spoiler-free in terms of what hasn't aired on TV yet.
I'm getting the impression from readers that the show is straying more and more from the books as they go on. Either way, I'm excited to both watch and read. It's very addictive.

I want to watch the show, but I lack Netflix etc. So it's become a waiting game for the dvd/blu prices to drop down so I can blind buy it.
I have the first book, but very little time to read these days, sadly.

Well even if you did have Netflix, it doesn't matter, since hBO refuses to let them stream or even rent any of their shows. Sucks, but that's how they function.
And yes, there are currently 5 books in the
Song of Ice and Fire series, with two more meant to finish it. The first two seasons each tackled the first two books, with some alterations that don't mess with the story too much. Considering how long the books get as they go on, and how much time it takes George R.R. Martin to write each of them, it seems like each season will only take on about half of the following books.

I also adore it! Everything is exquisite: the acting (Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage are the highlights for me), the writing, the soundtrack and the special effects (the best I've seen on television)! But I haven't read the books! I want to be surprised!
I thought the first episode of third season was great! And it seems to me the Tyrells know how to play the game better than everyone else! Also, I'm really looking foward to see Diana Rigg's performance since I loved her in 'The Painted Veil'!

Yep...we got HBO last week, just so we can watch this season as it airs.
We watched the first two seasons on blu-ray at the start of this year, and couldn't wait another year for the third season to arrive on blu-ray...haha
I realled missed Arya, as she is one of my favorite character, besides Tyrion ofcourse and Dani.
The only scenes that are really excruciating for me to watch are those with Stannis and the awful Carice van Houten. I have Always hated her acting and in English she might even be worse. IMO.
The sixth book should be out at the end of this year or at least before next summer. That should give Martin about 5 years to finish the last book, which I don't see happening.
They might combine books 4 and 5 together and still spread them over 2 seasons, but I somehow doubt it, unless they add stuff considerably.

In your opinion, what's wrong with her acting? I think she's very effective!

I'm not a fan of Carice van Houten as a person, she seems a bit full of herself, but I think she's phenomenal as Melisandre.
Her character is supposed to be foreign to Westeros so the accent she puts on works. Plus, she pulls off evil bitch like no one else. A real witch.

Loved the ending. Finally that bastard Jamie got what was coming to him. So deserved.

But I love his scenes with Brienne! They make him so likeable!

He appears likeable, but he's not. They've done well writing for him because you do start to like him. Forgetting what a piece of human garbage he is.

Another brilliant episode! And that ending actually gave me goosebumps! Also, the special effects were flawless in those scenes!

I haven't been paying attention to the recent season of GoT. I really liked the first season a lot. It stayed faithful to the source material and balanced everything out pretty well. The second season, however, had some problems. Dany's storyline was extremely boring and hard to sit through. I was also irritated how they altered the material from the second book (leaving out characters). It still had some moments that shined through, but it was a slow season for me.

Best episode of the season so far...
God I love Danny!
I didn't understand why the NightWatch started attacking EACH OTHER though. I get why they attacked the 'host'...but not what happened after.
Did their being hungry and cold just cloud their judgment or did I miss something?

Who would've thought you could feel sympathy for Jaime and Theon? This is why I love this show, outside of Jeoffrey (the sociopathic little shit), no one is black and white.

But even Joffrey is for once not entirely evil. All you have to do is watch how he acts around margaery and suddenly he's like a little boy in love.
I'm almost finished with the first book, though its taking long.

There was a lot going on still in the second season. Danys story was e weak point, but I wasnt too bored and the way it ended largely made up for that(I'm a sucker for illusions).

But in reality, there's no difference between a person appearing likable, and a person being likable. Of course he betrayed his king, attacked ned in the street and committed incest, but those are generally the first impression; not a view that requires much thought. I'd be a liar if I said I didn't have my share of unpopular views and thoughts, though they aren't of a sexual nature, and I certainly wouldn't express them to somebody who only knew me for an hour or two.

yeah, it's hard to believe they only have $60 million budget per season.
I'm not sure if I even actually believe that. I'd need a credible source.

Pushing a little boy out of a window to prevent people from finding out you're shagging your twin sister? Unlikable would be putting it lightly. I'm not saying he doesn't have his motivations, but in my opinion, he's pretty close to just being the biggest sack of shit on the show (outside of Joffrey of course).
