Well, I'm kind of surprised no on has yet to start a thread for this, so I decided to.

PlayStation 4
CPU: AMD Jaguar 8 Core (X86-64)
Grapics Chip (GPU): ATi Radeon .....
Memory (RAM): 8GB of GDDR5 RAM (Unified)
Optical Drive: 6x Blu-ray Disc Drive
Hard Disk Drive (HDD): Unknown, but more than likely 500GB+ as starting.
USB 3, Bluetooth 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless b, g, n and of course HDMI.
Sounds like Sony has really picked up their game with this one and has designed it with developer input. Some of the games are looking really good too. No picture of what the console looks like, but we have pictures of the new controller and PlayStation Eye.
The PlayStation Eye has two camera and 4 microphones. The new controller has a PlayStation Move light bar on the back and a high resolution touch pad in the middle. Directional and face buttons are now digital, but R2 and L2 are still analogue. Headset jack also located on the controller.
We also get an extra chip or two for background downloading and video encoding/decoding. That also includes use of the Share button, for sharing videos of game play.
We have
Gaikai which has been designed to also stream games from the PlayStation 4 to the PS Vita, without the developer having to do a lot of work to get it working. Currently the PlayStation 3 can use remote play, but I believe it takes a lot of development, so Sony has taken the leg work out of it, by using the Gaikai client onboard. Sounds very promising. Along with streaming games and being able to play games while they are still downloading, it will be interesting to what else comes to light in this department. (Edit: Added the above two paragraphs and a link or two)
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Knack
The Witness
DriveClub
inFamous - Second Son
Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag
Destiny
Watch Dogs
Deep Down (Working title and will probably change)
and many others.
Along with the promise that a Final Fantasy title is also being developed. My guess is that it will be Final Fantasy XV, which I believe is probably Final Fantasy versus XIII converted to PlayStation 4. Then hopefully when they are done, they will start on Kingdom Hearts 3. I guess Tetsuya Nomura is a busy man.
Well add what you want to the discussion and be nice

I read that the PS4 will also have no backwards capability (for PS1/2/3 games). I know it's for money reasons only, but that really pisses me off. I didn't know that before I bought PS3 a while ago, because at least I got a Blu-ray player, but that's just ridiculous.
I probably won't buy the PS4 for a long time, until the price comes down substantially--if at all. I think the only reason I would is if a
Kingdom Hearts or
Final Fantasy (no MMORPGs or FFXIII sequels, I mean) title. I still think KH3, whenever it comes, will be on PS3 regardless. They were making the 1.5 (and 2.5) collections in order to put all the games on one system, and it would be strange to put the last game in the Xehanort saga on the PS4 after doing that. As for the games after PS3, I fully expect them to be on PS4--if they get around to them before the PS4 ends.

I agree with this 100%
Also my PS3 does have backwards compatibility. It's only one of the three versions they offered that did. I remember buying my 20GB at it's launch at gamestop, the only reason I had that much money was because I sold Beanie Babies, given this time my house is Beanie Baby free I'm not going to get it right away and that I might wait for the price to go down too. even if that's not for a while.

Video game related topics are rare here, even Disney games, but here's how I see it.
It's possible that there will be some sort of streaming backwards compatibility with the ps3, though its by no mean guaranteed. Don't really know how it'd work either.
There is a final fantasy XV tech demo, but those are always to be taken with a grain of salt. It looks scary good though.
I'll post it when I get back to my pc. I'm on my iPad now.

At Sony's PlayStation meeting on the 20th of February, they said that they were aiming to get the Gaikai service to the point that people would be able to stream PlayStation 3, 2 and 1 games to the PlayStation 4, as well as PlayStation 4 demos (if their internet is fast enough).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiNGZMx2vhY
They also said that they wouldn't rule out PS1 and PS2 backwards compatibility on board, but that PS3 backwards compatibility was not likely possible, because of the difference in processor architecture. The PlayStation 4 would more likely have to be more powerful to emulate the Cell processor (PowerPC based, 3.2 Ghz), which is also the equivalent of an 8 core CPU (8 SPUs).
The demo by Square Enix is called Agni's Philosophy, created by their new in house LUMINOUS STUDIO Engine for the next generation consoles. Square Enix has said that the footage does not necessarily connect with any game in production.

In regards to Final Fantasy XV, I have read that Sony is helping Square Enix in something to do with making or getting a game into motion (so to speak) for the PlayStation 4. Which, as I've already noted (so I hope this doesn't sound redundant), I believe is Sony helping Square Enix convert Final Fantasy versus XIII PS3 Assets into Final Fantasy XV Assets for the PlayStation 4.
It will be exciting to see what the new consoles will be able to do. They have certainly removed a lot of the barriers that the PS3 had, the biggest one being the memory. The real showcase will be when studios like Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica and many other in house Sony Studios crack their whips and show us what can really be accomplished with people who know to make their hardware shine.

Although it depends if Kingdom Hearts 3 is made by the same team that made Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. From what I've read that team is the team headed by Tetsuya Nomura, which for the last 6 years (or whatever), have been working on Final Fantasy versus XIII. I believe I've read somewhere that when he had finished that project, he would start on Kingdom Hearts 3 (although last time I looked, I couldn't find the article, so I may be misquoting or something). Would be nice though to get it on both PS3 and PS4 (PS Vita as well).

Its sad to say that even though there is crazy potential with consoles, I prefer PC gaming. I travel a lot on the go and I like to be able to pack my gaming laptop in my laptop bags. It's something that a console can't do.

I'm not ruling out getting one eventually, but I'm not planning on it right now. The PS3 was a disappointment for me as a gaming machine. Although if the current rumors about the new Xbox system are true, PS4 will be the way to go this time around in my opinion.
It really will come down to games, and the console's price. If they launch with a $500 or $600 price again, it will be a long time before I think about one.

laptops are not great for gaming, in my experience. I like portable games on my PSP, 3ds, and my ipad. Especially the latter for it's screen
PS2 *did* have a portable screen attachment which was useful for hotels. Too bad such a thing never took off. It'd be great for my PS3.
PS4 specs look amazing.

Initially, as a gaming machine, PS3 was disappointing, but it's way better now.

I had read rumors about that probably happening, because of the new CEO wanting to be done with games dragging on in development forever. It's probably for the best.

It's been confirmed that PS4 will attempt some form of backwards compatibility by using a cloud streaming service provided by Gaikai. The intent is to try and eventually get the entire catalogue for Sony's previous and current home consoles onto this service. It will launch in 2014.
Most likely, the earliest titles will be popular ones, such as Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Little Big Planet, Batman Arkham, and likely even e notorious Final Fantasy XIII and it's (arguably better) sequels. Also probably some of the HD collections like Metal Gear Solid, Sly Cooper, and Kingdom Hearts.

Well, It's a month away (give or take).
15 November 2013 for USA
29 November 2013 for Europe, Australia and New Zealand (give or take a few countries)
There's also PS Vita TV launching in Japan soon too. Sony should build it into their TVs as well.

I'd update this post with other news from the past few months, but I can't be bothered.
Have fun!

This will be a christmas for me. Waited too long to preorder. My response to a certain biggot on another site was so ething along the lines of "I didnt decide in June, and I thought Sony would actually meet the demand".
Only microsofts poor handling of the advertising for Xbox One is preventing me from getting that, and I've been a PS3 owner for 5 years with no 360.

I want one so bad! But I'm in a transition period in my life right now and can't afford one and wouldn't have where to put it anyway (I'm crashing at a friends house). But I will get one eventually, along with Kingdom Hearts!!! It does suck, though, that it doesn't offer backwards compatibility with PS3 games.

I got my PS3 for Blu-ray and I am happy with it. I do not play video games on it so I do not see me upgrading any time soon.
Would make no sense for me.

Well I got mine. It's amazing though there aren't a lot of free games though Playstation Plus for the PS4. I plan on buying Injustice Gods Among Us Ultimate edition next month. Right now there aren't a lot of games, but there will be down the road. I took $100 each month to gamestop because I don't feel I could pay $400 all at one time anytime soon. Now I'm patiently waiting for the longest wait of seeing Kingdom Hearts 3 some day.
EDIT
I actually got the 20 GB PS3 at a launch. I was short $100 so I couldn't get the 60 GB. I actually paid for it by selling Beanie Babies. It actually is still running and working great. I actually just got it on the main internet a few months ago.

There are also free to play (F2P) games like WarFrame, if you're into those types of games.
