Jay Leno's Friday jokes: Knifed in the back by NBC
http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/03/22/jay-l ... -back-nbc/
Jay Leno doubled down on the NBC jokes Friday night.
Instead of just one zinger directed at the broadcast network during his Tonight Show monologue taping, the comedian went for two this time.
The first: “Doctors in Canada were shocked after pulling a three-inch knife blade from the back of a 32-year old man. The knife had been in there for three years! Imagine that, the guy had a knife in his back for three years. He must’ve worked at NBC too. I was stunned by that.”
And the second: “Have you heard about this alleged feud that I’m having with NBC? I think it’s going to be OK. This is real: I had dinner last night with a bunch of NBC executives. To make it up to me, what they did, they are sending my wife and I on an all expenses paid Carnival cruise. How about that? So it looks like it’s going to be OK. Fantastic!”

At least the first part of that joke is true — Leno had dinner with network brass Thursday night (and now he makes two jokes about their apparent transition plans!).
Leno is facing the prospect of getting replaced as Tonight host by Late Night‘s Jimmy Fallon at the end of next year. Each night this week he’s added a joke into his monologue firing back on the issue; first taking shots at NBC’s ratings and then, the last two nights, making cracks about his own imperiled gig.
NBC has yet to confirm or comment on the reported plan.

I've said this may times, that I am very biased as obvious in the pictures above me being on the show 8 years ago and all. That being said, I wouldn't be too torn up if Jimmy Fallon does get the job. I would be greatly sad to see NBC let go of Leno, but there are already rumors that he could sign with Fox to get a show prime time. I like Jimmy Fallon a lot better than Conan, I just don't want to see another Late Night War like the last time of Conan O'Brien VS Jay Leno. That got very ugly, and the fact that it's NBC that wants to oust Leno kinda concerns me that this could happen again. Although I could see Leno cutting his loses this round and just go to another network. I think Jimmy Fallon does fit the kinda of Tonight Show I would watch.

Personally I think Conan should be the host. I've never been a Leno fan, and while Fallon is better than Leno, he's still not that good of a host IMO.

Not to sound TOO negative, but I pretty much stopped caring after the whole Conan fiasco.

I don't watch any Tonight Show's regularly, so I don't feel much either way. I will say I've watched Jimmy Fallon more than Jay Leno, although I don't dislike Leno. I don't understand why they need to get rid of either Tonight Show, since they've both been on the channel together for a while now. If they think Fallon will get better ratings in Leno's spot, then just switch the spots. I don't see why Leno needs to be dumped, unless his salary is huge (since they increase as the years go by). Unless I'm missing something?

Good luck getting Leno to agree to something like that! If Conan disagreed to moving around the time of the show, Leno, of the much bigger ego (and chin) would never do that. Plus, the later show is typically geared toward a younger crowd. Leno does not fit that demographic, causing NBC's ratings to go down even more. It would be a disaster!

Can't really stand either Leno or Fallon. The Tonight Show hasn't been the same since Johnny Carson left. David Letterman is the better option in my book, but since he just extended his contract with CBS that is out of the question.
Why not just have a NBC Late Night at the Movies and premier some movies that have never been seen on television before. Let NBC be the first to show network premiers of films and maybe have the star or stars of the movie host that particular evening.

^ That's actually a pretty good idea, and one that I would definitely tune in for.

It's Set: Jimmy Fallon To Replace Jay Leno On 'Tonight Show' In Spring 2014
http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/201 ... pring-2014
What's different this time, is that it's going to happen on peaceful terms and I think Leno will get the proper send off that he deserves. Also Leno is this time truly on board with this, compared to the last time with Conan

Yeah, I just heard earlier. I'm surprised it was settled so soon. The news I heard it from said Jay Leno would be leaving as the highest-rated Tonight show host currently on air. I didn't know that--is it true? I thought the ratings started to go down after the Conan fiasco. Regardless, I'm glad there aren't any hard feelings created here because the corporate heads decided to meddle. And congratulations to Jimmy Fallon.
I wonder if Arsenio Hall will be successful when he returns in the Fall? Sometimes when people return, they aren't on top again (see Ricki Lake's recently canceled show).

I'm definitely in favour of Fallon hosting. I was never a fan of Leno, and I find Fallon hilarious (met him in person too, which was pretty cool). And seeing how everything seems to be going peacefully right now, I don't think this will result in another feud.

This development doesn't really surprise me; the NBC execs have been wanting an excuse to oust Leno for the last few years. They made the deal with Conan, but weren't prepared for the negative reaction he rightfully got. They then paid him a ton of cash to leave, and rehired Jay. Its been 3 years, and they're already at it again. What do these people have against Leno?

How about a black woman?
It seems like the only qualifications you have to meet for this gig are being a white, heterosexual male. Either way, ay least Jimmy Fallon is funny. Jay Lenno is one of the least funny people ever on TV.

Agreed. I can't get through an episode of his show.

I really enjoy his Headlines, Jaywalking Trivia, What they found at the dollar store, What we found on Ebay, and Animals on the show.
I love animals on any talk show is because anything can happen since animals don't follow a script and chaos can erupt.
I will probably watch Jimmy Fallon and I find him much more appealing than Conan O'Brien was.
There are rumors that Leno might to to FOX. The reason Leno won't disappear is because he is a workaholic. Jay hates taking vacations from the show. He will remain in the spotlight of some form for a while. I wonder if NBC will still air his web show of Jay Leno's Garage.

Maybe Ellen degeneres for a complete change. Shes actually pretty funny for being on network TV. I used to watch Conan but he seems really full of himself now. I haven't watched any of these late night shows in years though, so it makes no difference to me I guess.

I'm a HUGE fan of Ellen, although I'm not sure if she would work, she caters to a pretty specific audience. Although, it would be interesting to see if she was up to the task of branching out and reaching a wider audience.
