Misleading VHS/DVD Covers

Just for the hell of it, I thought I'd rant about the misleading images shown on various VHS covers. This thread is not meant to be taken seriously.

Alice in Wonderland

Image

This cover makes it seem as though Alice was enjoying herself at the Mad Hatter's tea party, when in fact she was nothing but irritated throughout the whole thing.

Sleeping Beauty

Prince Phillip did not reach Aurora until after he had slain Maleficent, but this cover makes it seem as though he snuck into the castle and found Aurora by himself, and Maleficent didn't notice until it was too late (hence her "NO, DAMNIT!" look at the top of the stairs). Also, shouldn't Aurora's dress be blue? Although I must admit the purple does look nice...

Image

Aladdin

My only thoughts are: why is Jasmine's outfit green?

For those who recall "The Tortoise and the Hare" (1935) or "Toby Tortoise Returns" (1936), Max Hare was brown, and Toby was a different shade of green.

Image

They're obviously hiding the seriousness behind their story. :)

Image

Cruella's coat was not THAT yellow.

Image

Donald was a very minor part of this film.

This would NEVER happen.

Alice did enjoy some of that Merry Unbirthday part! "For me?" "For you!"

The Sleeping Beauty cover is metaphoric, combining all the elements together, even Aurora's dress being pink and blue together makes purple! That cover is a lot like this (even cooler/better!) cover:

I think the VHS cover for The Hunchback of Notre Dame (the one with Quasimodo jumping with Esmeralda on his back) is misleading. Makes you think you're about to have the time of your life.

I thought that what you were going to point out was how Prince Philip looked like he was riding on Aurora

This may not count but this makes kids think it's a fun-filled film when really it has a darker tone than that.

The film had darker themes than the DVD cover implies.

At NO point in the movie did an enormous Pinocchio and Jiminy and a slightly smaller Gepetto and Figaro descend from the heavens to challenge Monstro the whale as he chased their normal-sized equivalents. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this.

Oh, yes! I forgot that particular part of the tea party. Maybe the cover art was supposed to portray that particular moment.

And I never thought about the intentional mis-colorization of Aurora's dress to be metaphoric. I've always wondered why color schemes were sometimes different on covers as they were in the movies.

I suppose he could do that as a last resort, in case a mere kiss wasn't going to cut it.

Hahahaha I don't think that kind of riding is what rj.disney meant, but that's definitely how I took it as well.
