Thousands of children have been abused by his institution and this guy.... 'is sorry'. I believe the good Lord's intentions had nothing to do with these clowns in their golden city swimming in their millions of dollars. If there's justice in the universe, these guys will burn.

I read about this earlier. I don't care about the Pope or that whole instituation at all, so I'm not broken up.

also, there has been much discussion about whether or not the catholic church will actually elect a more progressive pope than the likes of what the catholic church and GOP have had so far.

I admire the guy for knowing when to leave. I think he's a good man. It's a tough job for any man, let alone one who's 85.

What makes me in awe is the historical factor behind all of this.

I agree. The first time a Pope has resigned in hundreds of years, and the first non-European pope in 1200+ years. But they should have a Latino pope, shouldn’t they? Most Roman Catholics are Hispanic, I believe. (Most Americans will be Hispanic, too, in so many years. How much you want to bet 90% of our government officials will be white though. )

Hispanics are white.

More correctly, Hispanics/Latinos can be of any race.

There are only three types of races in human world. Mongoloids(china, japan, etc), Caucasoid(European whites, middle east, Indian), and Negroid(blacks and aboriginals).

I think it was a wise thing on his part, he didn't think he could give it the full service it required due to his advanced years increasing infirmities. So he decided to move on and spend his last years quietly out of the spotlight.
