Get ready for more museum hijinks. Twentieth Century Fox announced today that Ben Stiller will return for a third outing in the Night at the Museum franchise. Shawn Levy is also slated to return as director of the franchise he has helmed since the first film arrived in theaters back in 2006.

The overarching storyline of the Museum franchise follows Stiller's security guard character Larry Daley as he experiences various adventures with exhibits at museums that come to life at night. In 2006, the action was centered at New York's Museum of Natural History. In 2009, the sequel brought the action to Washington D.C. and the Smithonian Museum. There's no word as to where this three-quel will take place, but don't be surprised to see familiar faces return to the franchise.

I am not worried about this being made.

I would have redone the ending of the second one to make it so Stiller could have hooked up with Ameilia in the end. That modern day version just didn't cut it.

I know what you're saying, but the real Amelia Earhart also disappeared without a trace, so that's what they were playing at.

I could go a 3rd. The second followed the trend of packing more action and pacing into the sequel to stop people getting bored with the usual retread of the first story. They really built upon the concept of everything coming to life with the paintings and other creative things like that.

The Pink Panther 2 on the other hand, yes the original wasn't a piece of art but was still entertaining, felt like a cheap 90's direct to video sequel with very large chunks where nothing happens except the drawn out setting up of a weak joke. I watched it the other night so that's why I bring it up.

So yeah, its a fun premise. Night at the Louvre maybe?

Maybe Disney will also take this franchise from 20th Century Fox and do Night at the Walt Disney Family Museum.

I enjoyed the first two, so hopefully this one should be fun too. It'll be interesting to see if they repeat the premise of the sequel - I.e., going to a different museum or if they will keep this one at the Natural history museum in NYC again.
