Square Enix has announced the long awaited (and rumored) Kingdom Hearts HD collection in the form of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX but its not exactly what we expected.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX (yes that’s how its typed) includes the original Kingdom Hearts 1 in Final Mix form and Kingdom Hearts RE: COM (Chain of Memories) original released for the Game Boy Advance and then remade for the PS2. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 HD ReMIX will also include Kingdom Hearts 358/2 albeit not in playable form, cutscenes from the game will be viewable in the game’s theater mode. Along with the much coveted HD treatment both Kingdom Hearts 1: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts RE: COM will be getting full trophy support.

I've checked for news on this every few days. Nice to know for sure it's coming to the US now!

I'm most excited about this because they'll be including the Final Mix version of KH! I was so resentful that we didn't get it all those years ago. The film version of Days will be something to look forward to as well. I hope it's not too high at first, but I'll be buying regardless. It'll be really nice to play this on the PS3. Now Square Enix just needs to hurry up with FFX HD (and KH 2.5, too... I would die if I could play Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance on the PS3).

Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance on PS3 would have been awesome! Am buying this for sure if it get's a European release, and I hope they will release KH II in HD as well. And let's hope that they hurry up and makes KH III soon, before all people that played the original games forgets about the whole series:P

Now hopefully they'll pull a Pokemon X and Y and have a simultaneous release....

I forgot that not all Playstation 3 systems played Playstation 2 games. Mine does but perhaps you could pick them up for the Playstation 2?

Too bad the game will still be full of texture face animation, one of the ugliest things I've ever seen, instead of fully animated faces. I was also hoping they'd go back and lip-sync the game to the english audio, as is now custom on Square-Enix games. From the trailers I've seen, it also appears to be running at 720p with minimal AA (if any at all). PS2 games should have no problem running at 1080p on PS3 if they cared to optimize the games for the PS3 hardware and invest a little money into it. The Beyond Good & Evil HD remake is running at 1080p 60fps and looks fucking amazing.

Talk about one huge nitpick of a gorgeous game.

Most mouth movements do go with the English audio...

Not really a nitpick when its used throughout most of the game. Looks far from gorgeous.

I wish it was coming to Xbox 360. I don't have PS3 (nor do have any desire to GET one). I DID buy my PS2 (after some price drops) to play the Kingdom Hearts games (and the amount of time I've spent playing them has more than made the console worth it) but I don't see myself justifying buying a PS3 for this collection.

Maybe if it had both Kingdom Hearts AND Kingdom Hearts II done in HD...

Many fans suppose they'll be releasing a 2.5 collection with KH2, BbS, and possibly Re:Coded and/or Dream Drop Distance as well. Most people suspect they're trying to draw in a generation of new gamers by collecting the games together on one console, before releasing Kingdom Hearts 3. I think it's a good decision considering how sprawled out the series has become.

The main way I justified getting the PS3 is that it was also a Blu-ray player. It would be a lot more convenient if you could also play PS2 games on it (and, no, I wasn't able to get one of those initial copies that allowed that, unfortunately), although I'm glad I can at least play PS games on there whenever I get the urge. The only other one I had thought about getting was a Wii, but I couldn't think of too many games I was dying to have for that system.

Not a lot of gamers in here huh? Nomura has dais that it "would be unnatural not to do another [collection]".

It must be the best HD collection in terms of updates. Trophy support, updated graphics, new camera controls, new character models, re-rendered cutscenes, new voice-acting, the Final Mix version of the game (finally).

About the animation.. It's a 2001 PS2 game. What's wrong with the animation?

Ugh, I don't pay more then $10 for HD versions of games I already own, especially if it only runs at 720p. I'll wait for a price drop.

Normally, I'd wait for the price-drop as well. But I really can't wait to get this (mostly for the Final Mix).
