MTV Geek's "Geek Spy" is reporting that top level executives at Walt Disney Company and Hasbro are currently in talks for Disney to acquire Hasbro. Coming only a week after news that Disney had purchased Lucasfilm, and with it the rights to Star Wars, a Hasbro acquisition would give Disney the rights to G.I. Joe, Transformers, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and numerous other properties, though some properties, like G.I. Joe, have movie rights tied up at Paramount.

Might as well pfffftt might as well take over the world also ? Why not ?

For a normal animation this would be unique, but for Disney this is Tuesday.

Ok, now Disney is REALLY freaking me out here. They might as buy the world while they're buying every single kids thing in the world. Period.

They’re REALLY desperate now! I mean they’re going to own like EVERY KIDS THING IN AMERICA! They might as well buy Apple while they’re at it.

This also shows that Disney is LOSING their originality by making money out of non-Disney things. Like they’re going to make movies and TV shows out of them. Really, why can they be who they were in the 90s?! :(

WHAT’S NEXT? Avatar?! (Wait for it…)

The thought of my favourite media corporation owning My Little Pony is making me sick.

So, let me get this straight:

First they buy Marvel
Then they buy LucasFilm
Now they want to buy Hasbro?

What's next; Parker Brothers? CBS?

I think that Parker Brothers is already owned by Hasbro. I say if they buy Hasbro, fine. But then they should stop for a while.

Hasbro theme park??

Okay, then disregard that.

They could still buy buttloads of companies with the money they make.

I read elsewhere that Hasbro has the merchandising rights to Star Wars, could that be the connection for the purchase?

Would make sense, if they're making a section over at Animal Kingdom.

It is foreshadowing, I tell you.

And somehow, they still gave up on Ghibli movies.

That's more about your post. But I agree, wayyyy too much. We dont need them to be involved in Transformers. and it also puts them a little too close to the Hub which I've enjoyed watching every now and then.

That twas funny.

I fear Disney is getting power hungry abnd they should stop. Buying Lucasfilm was enough.

Do you know what independent company I would like to see stay that way? LEGO. They don't need a big corporation buying them.
