Production has started for a new Wizards of Waverly Place one hour Disney Channel special event titled "The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex" and it is set for a 2013 release.

"The Russo family and friends are headed to Tuscany, Italy, to meet their long lost relatives... but when Alex tries to prove she's more than a seemingly carefree young Wizard, she inadvertently conjures a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex. When Evil Alex gets roped into a charming young wizard's foreboding plan to take over the world, Good Alex must find a way to save her family and humankind, which leads to a monumental battle between the two versions of herself - all atop the Tower of Pisa."

Only David Henrie won't be in it due to scheduling conflicts.

I'm really excited about the new Life with Derek show! I was really upset when the first series ended. As for the Wizards reunion, I feel it's really too soon. It's only been a year and I don't think that allows enough people the proper time to really miss it and crave a new special. That's just how I feel, though.
