Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

With Disney and Steve Carell around, Alexander might not have such a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, after all. Deadline is reporting that Disney has picked up the long-in-the-works (since 2010, to be exact) big screen version of Judith Viorst's beloved children's book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Was introduced to this book in Kindergarten. It'll be interesting to see how they bring this one to the screen.

Are we talking animation or live-action?

I hope animation.

I too remember the book when I was little. I even remember watching the HBO Story Musical special of it in kindergarten as well.

I recall the book from grade school. There was a TV special from the early 90s done by Klasky-Csupo.

The book title is now used as a meme on The Rachel Maddow Show.

I know nobody cares or feels the same way but I feel it's just not Disney.

I remember reading this book when I was 5. It was part of a reading program education to help kids read. Because of the accelerated reader program, I can read very well. I even read Dr. Suess books to kindergarten kids when I was 9. This book, was one of them.

I also hope it's animated, it would be better that way.

I'm sure it's live-action? The article talks about Disney bringing to life children's fiction and mentioned all the live action films rather than the animated version of Alice or Peter Pan. Or any of the fairy tales. The article even reads "But their loss is Disney's game as the live-action adaption has, in addition to Carell..." It will probably be something similar to Diaries of a Wimpy Kid. Hopefully Disney can start creating some successful live-action soon..

I don't disagree with you necessarily. I've just think I've just come around to the notion that the "Disney feeling" as it were is over. It's been replaced, modernized, evolved, or whatever you want to call it, but the traditional "feeling" is done so far as new shows/ films go. Which may explain for me anyway why less and less of the new Disney shows/ films excites me.

That said, this book feels a heck lot more like "Disney" then the tween/ teen shows on Disney Channel or Marvel movie do. And this is from a huge Marvel fan!

I think you might be right, but it's doesn't make it clear. Will be interesting none the less.

Thanks milojthatch I agree.

This book is just so infamous as something not Disney but something on its own with kids acting differently than most Disney kids.

It's too soon for a reboot. The previous adaptation was in 2014. Not to mention, the IP isn't popular enough to warrant another one.
