Do we have any idea as yet as to whether this will only be a 1 disc release or a 2 disc ?

Also, has anyone found out what the content or cover art will be ? With less than 3 months to release, I was hoping that an 'insider' may have some details for us on this most anticipated release ???

Well, a long time ago there was "Special Edition" listed on the Disney DVD website, so hopefully it will have features.

However, given the state of the catalog titles released recently, it would seem as though a barebones is the order of the day.

That looks like a Vault Disney / Special Edition release all the way, but it may very well be only one disc still. Then again, the Davy Crockett Double Feature with both movies is carrying an SRP of just $19.99 also.

Since all these Freaky Fridays are being rereleased... is Billions for Boris (another in the series) being released as well? this was shot in 1984 and im dying to see Seth Green in it when he's young. He plays Ben Andrews and is 10 years old if im not mistaken.

Thanks everyone...

Luke - I was just wondering if you had a larger pic for the cover art ? Also is there a reason why you have not posted this current pic in the "upcoming cover art". Is it because you are not sure if this is reasonably definite or not ?

Luke hasn't posted that art on the site, yet, because he usually waits till a large version is released. The image the official Disney site has (which Luke posted here), is smaller than even the thumbnails on the upcoming cover art page. Big cover art should come soon, though. That cover reminds me A LOT of The Parent Trap's cover.

I really hope this movie gets 2-Disc treatment, but if not, it better get a packed 1-Disc ala the Witch Mountain films.

Re: Billions for Boris -- it isn't a Disney movie.

And as a HUGE fan of Freaky Friday (I think it's the best Disney movie ever made, live-action or animated), there's no way it will get a 2-disc release. The movie was a bomb when it opened and the cultish fanbase it's attracted over the years really isn't that significant compared to some other Disney movies.

One fully-packed disc is all it needs.

Oh, excellent stuff, L.

Look forward to this now. I really hope they do give it the deluxe DVD treatment. As I said, it WAS referenced as a "SE" a long time ago, and there is no reason to think it has changed. Even if it is just a single disc, the Witch Mountain/Apple Dumpling SEs made a decent fist of the single disc SE.

Coincidentally, I ordered this yesterday, to ship off with some other stuff.

OK I just heard that it is going to be the same sort of release that Escape To Witch Mountain was. A Special Edition but on 1 disc!

If that's true, then it begs the question, does Disney plan on releasing any of their classic live action films as 2-Disc sets anymore? Yes, we're getting a Mary Poppins 2-Disc later this year, but that's going under the Masterpiece Edition series, not the Vault Disney/Vault Disneyish Special Edition. My guess is Disney's going to release all classic live action films in 1-Disc SE editions like the Witch Mountain movies, and only reserve the 2-Disc treatment for Masterpiece titles like Mary Poppins and possibly Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

I really like the look of the cover for Freaky Friday. I can't wait for this release. It's one of my all time favorites. Hopefully there will be some worthwhile extras.

"Exploded mousse and burnt turkey!! Boris! How could you do this to me?!!" - Barbara Harris as Mrs. Andrews/Annabel.
