EXCITING NEWS!! FOR "DISNEY AFTERNOON" FANS

I have it on good authority that Disney Home Entertainment is prepping all Disney Animated Classics to be released on Blu-ray. But more exciting is that, DHE is in the process of looking to release the final releases on DVD for some of their Disney Afternoon titles previously released, as well as release Disney Afternoon titles that have not yet been released before. The hope is that in late 2012/ early 2013, we will begin to see them released.

However, this is not written in stone yet. They are looking at the numbers for both past and current sales of the volumes sets that they have released thus far.

So, if you want to help, now is the time to buy what has been released if you have not done so yet. Tell others to buy if they have not done so yet. If we want these or future releases from Disney, we have to show it with our wallets.

In that case, I am writing this off as wild and crazy speculation and rumor.

Sorry, but this sounds too good to be true.

Yeah, I'm interpreting this as "maybe if I convince them to all go out and splurge on the existing Afternoon DVDs, Disney will notice and decide to finish the series!"

I hope what the OP said is true. I was told many exclusive Disney home entertainment news back when my friend was working for licensed Disney home entertainment in the non US country. I was not able to reveal the source either, so I totally understood him/ her.

I think Disney has already put the DVD format to rest.

Though their DVD-Mod Disney Generations Collection is not. Warner has The Jetsons Season 2 Volume 2 through their DVD-MOD Program, so Disney might do the same with Ducktales. Though Disney marketing of the 21st Century makes as much sense as George Lucas altering Star Wars.

You are always gonna have cynical people...oh well! I have a Disney Contact who has asked to remain anonymous. If you doubt this news, feel free to e-mail Disney Home Entertainment about any of the specific titles.

I don't know guys but I have a feeling that this is true. Why?
Because Disney Germany begins to release the collections you got years ago in November over here (Chip n Dale 1+2, DuckTales 1+2, TaleSpin 1 are announced for Nov+Dec). So it would make sense if they would also add more collections in the following months.

However the Blu-ray release is confusing me. You might get em but I don't see this coming in Europa for the next five years...

Well, to be fair, Disney has confirmed that they have plans to finish off Gargoyles, I believe via their DVD-Mod services. If it's true that they're doing the same for the rest of their series, then that's news to me.

Here's the deal... You come in here, start talking about a piece of news that EVERYONE wants to hear about, then when asked for an official source, what you say is "Sorry, can't say, tee hee :) ". It may be cynical thinking, but you don't just come here, start a rumor thread then back away when people ask for more information. That's how many BS rumors start on the internet, so can you blame us for being more doubtful since this does sounds too good to be true?

Sorry, but until a better source pops up that adds more information to this, I will see this as nothing more than rumor and fan speculation.

And before someone asks me for a source about Gargoyles, here's an e-mail sent from Disney to a fan on another message board.
Dear Jon,
Thank you for your e-mail. We appreciate your interest and are happy to answer your questions.
There are tentative plans to release GARGOYLES SEASON 2, VOLUME 2 and GARGOYLES SEASON 3 in 2012. No further release details are available at this time.

Yeah, my interest is mostly in the film-based series, particularly Mermaid, Hercules, and Aladdin--but I think Mermaid is the most likely of the three to be released (in the next ten years, anyway) because it's shorter than the other two and it's tied to one of--if not the--most popular of their DP line.

I'm SO hoping this is true!!!
I still want the unreleased episodes of TaleSpin in good (= NOT youtube) quality! :)

But what I'd like even more is them making the episodes available digitally (ITunes, Netflix, Amazon, ...anything!), and in all countries, so that anyone can get access to them!
They're seriously underestimating the potential of nostalgia on the Disney Afternoon. And its potential to bring them to new generations.

That would be wonderful news! There are so many shows I'd love to see on DVD, especially The Little Mermaid and Hercules.
