It was exactly 25 years today (9/18/12) that the classic Disney animated show "DuckTales" debuted. In honor of the occasion, over at Open Vault Disney, we are focused on getting the rest of this show on DVD.

But, besides campaign stuff, I thought it would be great to start a special 25th Anniversary thread. Share what this show means to you, or what fun memories you have of it, or maybe who your favorite character is. Have fun and thanks for celebrating this occasion with all of us at OVD!

I absolutely love DuckTales, it's a shame that they don't have more episodes or the fact that they only have 3 volumes. Released in 4 season packs or a complete box set would make a lot of people happy and a lot of money.
Happy 25th Anniversary DuckTales and its fans. Might solve a mystery or rewrite history. DuckTales woohoo!!!!!!!!!!

Disney Movie Rewards just updated their prize of the movie, adding a couple of lithographs to it if you order it. I actually never did order the movie before, so I did it last night.
I also realize that I don't own the second volume on DVD, only the first and third. I gotta change that later today. This really is a great show, and that's hardly nostalgia talking. And while the last batch of episodes aren't as adventurous as the originals, there are still a lot of fun stories that would make it into the eventual volume 4.

I was 4 years old when this show started, and it is one of the earliest tastes of animation I can remember. In the years since, I can honestly say there were a few cartoon shows that really stood out for me, shows like "Gargoyles," or "Animaniacs," or more recently, "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" to name a few. But for me, "DuckTales" is really what started it all.
The characters on the show were well written, the stories interesting and who can forget that theme song? Personally, I feel the show still holds up a quarter century later in a way I don't feel other shows for the 1980's necessarily do.
I'm just grateful the powers that be at the Mouse House in the mid-1980's had the brains to use the genius of Carl Barks for a half hour animated tv show. It was one of the best decisions Disney has ever made since Wald died. I only wish they'd more with the show today.

Guys, 25 years ago, I was in elementary school.
And lord knows dvdjunkie already had lots of kids when the show started, so none of you play the "I am too old" card.

Nothing like the anniversary of a major show to age people.

Hard to believe Disney's greatest animated show besides Gargoyles is 30 this year.
I was 6 years old when it first aired on syndicate TV and taped/watched every episode religiously and became one of my faves as it's one of the shows that changed animation forever. I even had some merchandise even Mcdonalds stuff to seeing the movie in theaters when i was 9.

Would be nice if we got an HD remaster for the 30th anniversary.

Between the new show and this 30th anniversary of the original show, they should do a "DuckTales" panel at D23.

We also need a final volume of the original series. Disney, I'm looking at you. I know you can do it.
Anyway, happy 30th anniversary DuckTales! Woo-hoo!

This was/is easily my favorite of Disney's TV shows. However the remake turns out--and I'm not optimistic--the original will always be a classic.

With all the fanfare for DuckTales happening at the moment, I'm hoping we'll finally get the last volume soon.

While I'm super excited to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of easily my favorite Disney Afternoon era series, I do feel the need to also point out that this year is the 25th anniversary of the DA series
Goof Troop. Maybe not as beloved as
DuckTales, but it did kind of sort of spawn the fan favorite
A Goofy Movie and was Bill Farmer's first role in a TV series.
All in all a great year for the Disney Afternoon!

I agree, but what if there was a panel at LA Comic Con a few months later instead? That is if D23 didn't come through? Outside of Russi Taylor and Terry McGovern (who I think are both givens) who of the surviving cast would you want to see the most? Anyone from the crew?
