Well, the title seems pretty self-explanatory.

Over the years, we've seen new attractions come and old attractions go. Over the years, I've noticed: They only do away with some of their best attractions to make way for things that just won't be as great.


To name a few things, the live-show for The Hunchback of Notre Dame at the MGM Studios-- Or "Hollywood Studios" as it is called now. It was a great show, and they remove it and replace it with something that just isn't as great.

Tarzan Rocks! at the Animal Kingdom park. I don't know if you like Tarzan or not, but the show was spectacular and the music would give you goosebumps. And then they replace it with a musical based on a movie that just isn't a musical? Finding Nemo, in my honest opinion, was not as great as Tarzan.


Now, I have heard that they are planning on adding another expansion to the Animal Kingdom Theme Park based around Avatar. While it doesn't make much sense to me that they would be adding an expansion to a theme park that isn't Disney Related(At least, in a park that ISN'T Hollywood Studios), I thought the idea would be pretty neat. I liked the film, and I'm sure Disney would do a fairly decent job...

... That is, until I read that they will be closing the Festival of the Lion King.

... Excuse me, what? You are getting rid of yet ANOTHER one of your greatest attractions to make way for something that just isn't Disney Related? EXCUSE me?

Now, Avatar? I liked the film. I didn't mind the idea of an expansion to the Animal Kingdom Theme park, until I read about THAT.

WHAT are they doing!? That is NOT wise!


That was only to name a few things that have since been retired, and I'm not quite sure if there is anything else. But tell me: Am I the only one that notices this? Are they getting rid of their best attractions on purpose or something?

The Festival of the Lion King is not being closed permanently. It will be closed soon but only for a few months while it is relocated to the Africa area of the park. Right now there are absolutely no concrete plans regarding Avatar (which is ridiculous given it was announced months ago) but FOTLK will reopen.

That really isn't a proper excuse for them to bring Avatar there in the first place! Why can't they place Avatar in some other stupid location of the park that isn't being used?! I may be throwing a hissy fit over nothing, but damn it! FOTLK is much more interesting than what James Cameron's "superior" film could turn that area into!

The reason I put 'superior' in quotations is because his truly superior film is Titanic. You know, the love story between a rich girl and a poor boy (with a heart of gold), despite their upbringings, and how they were involved in one the greatest disasters of the 20th century. Not some Pocahontas-knockoff BS!

Never mind that Terminator, Terminator 2, and Aliens are way superior.

Agreed. I love Terminator, T2 The abyss (Director's cut only) and Aliens a lot more than Titanic.

Hate to sound rude, but as cool as Terminator, Terminator 2 and Aliens were, I really don't care as much about his sci-fi/action films as much as everyone else here.

You're not the only one! While "best" is in the eye of the beholder, I can definitely say they've removed TONS of my favorites going back to the 90's (Mr. Toad, 20,000 Leagues, original Figment, Horizons, World of Motion, Kitchen Kabaret/Food Rocks) and a more recent wave of closures which claimed Snow White's Adventures, Toontown, and Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends.

The loss of Snow White was especially painful, and taken collectively with the other recent closures of favorites, is enough to stifle my enthusiasm for WDW and has me looking at a west coast trip to Disneyland instead.
