As "Brave" developed, Andrews was pursuing his own projects, including an unannounced Pixar feature with some sci-fi elements and a live-action writing and second unit directing gig for fellow Pixar director Andrew Stanton on "John Carter"

But as for what Andrews will do next, that's somewhat up in the air. "I've got lots of irons in the fire. I definitely have ideas for live action and animation both," Andrews admitted. "I'm developing stuff for Pixar – original animated tales but I have original live action tales as well. I'll hit the ground running come September and figure out what to do next."

Interesting, I wonder, if this film pans out, where it will fall in terms of the release schedule of the already announced films? It looks like they already have films planned through 2015, so I wonder if this will fall after that or if they will inject it somewhere in between?

It might fall after the announced films. After all, Pixar tends to take a long time making their films. I think Brenda Chapman first pitched Brave in 2004 and it was officially announced around 2008.
And, of course, there's the possibility of them changing the schedule around like when Newt was cancelled and Cars 2 was pushed forward to 2011.

I guess Mark Andrews' film is still on track.
Q: After The Good Dinosaur, what else does Pixar have in the pipeline?
Jim Morris: We have a bunch of confirmed titles. There’s Finding Dory later this year. We’re working on The Incredibles 2, Cars 3 and Toy Story 4. Dan Scanlon, who did Monsters University is working on an original film. Mark Andrews who directed Brave is working on one, too.

Take this with grain of salt since it's an anonymous comment but...
Did story artist Mark Andrews go to Skydance with him? He apparently left Pixar shortly after Lasseter.
