New Disney Movie Involving Fairy Tales

Chris McCoy, who has landed three scripts on The Black List, has just made a deal for a high concept romantic comedy pitch at Disney with Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman producing. The plot is under wraps, but it involves iconic fairy tales, something that has been a preoccupation for the studio. McCoy’s Black Listed scripts are Get Back, which has Don Scardino attached to direct; Good Looking, the Double Features-produced pic that has Randall Einhorn directing and Allison Brie to star; and Good Kids, the Depth of Field-produced film on which McCoy is attached to make his directorial debut. He’s repped by WME and Gotham Group.

Is it me or have fairytales replaced vampires as the "in" thing at the moment?

Do Disney have any other live-action fairytale adaptations in development aside from Maleficent?

From what I recall, there's
Into the Woods,
Cinderella,
Peter & the Starcatchers,
Magic Kingdom, and
Beauty & the Beast (ABC TV series). I think there may be even more.
Also there were plans for
Order of the Seven,
Tink,
Beauty & the Beast, and
Enchanted 2 but they have all been shelved.

Yeah, and I STILL feel cheated that we won't be getting a second Enchanted movie anytime soon.

I'm actually glad about that one. I loved Enchanted. Absolutely loved it. It probably is one of my top 5 favorite movies. I'd prefer they just leave Enchanted as it is and not saddle it with crappy sequels like they did to The Parent Trap (the original) and The Santa Clause.

Plus, I personally feel Enchanted ended on the right note. Giselle is now fully integrated in the world and living happily with Robert, the villain was defeated and even their respective exes lived happily ever after. I'd rather Enchanted stay as the one excellent movie it is.

I'm also glad that we won't be getting an Enchanted sequel. Not only has too much time passed now, but there were really no open ends that required a sequel.

No, it's not just you, they have been in for a while, ever since Disney's Alice in Wonderland and the recent live-action Snow White movies, and shows like Once Upon a Time and Grimm.

I find it ironic that a company, that said just less than three years ago that they would no longer do fairy tales, have gone completely insane with fairy-tale projects since then. Not that I have anything against fairytales but the originality in Disney's project slate, as of late, has been currently lacking.

To be honest, I'll take fairy tales over vampires any day of the week.

I was thinking the exact thing when I first saw this thread.
But of course I love fairy tales, so I'm just enjoying it while it's hot.
