EDIT: This is an April Fools joke. Don't take this seriously.

I found out from a high powered source that in 2014, Disney will create a new line called The Walt Disney Legacy! This will be the successor of the Walt Disney Treasures and will be on both DVD and Blu-ray. The first batch of releases will be the Mickey Mouse cartoons which will all be digitally restored and remastered, uncut, plus the original titles for the B&W and 30's technicolor shorts (Mickey's Band Concert, On Ice, etc.) wil be on home video for the first time. Leonald Maltin and Jerry Beck will fully supervise the sets to make sure they are what the fans want. I've found the specs for the first title "Mickey Mouse: The Complete Black and White Collection":

APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

As much as I wish this were true, I honestly knew the minute I read it that it was an April Fools joke. Good joke however. I don't think the modern powers that be at Disney care about vintage titles enough to allow a new set that that to be created...for now.

Time will tell if things change.

I love this cat!

Regarding this thread, I admit, out of all the jokes and pranks I've seen today this might be the best since it did fool me for a second.

So I give you a thumbs up for that

Good one! Had me fooled! It would be great if the studio did something like this though, wouldn't it?

Well, Warner Bros. have taken the incentive to start releasing restored Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies and Tom & Jerry cartoons on Blu-ray. This might stimulate Disney in releasing their own material on the medium.

I, however, don't think that Disney were waiting for Warner Bros. to make the move. I believe the Disney shorts will make it to Blu-ray eventually. There have already been reports of certain short cartoons getting the high-dollar restoration normally afforded the classic animated features. Surely Disney didn't restore those shorts just so they could stream them online.

I don't see why it's so ridiculous. In fact, they probably are planning such a thing. They are slowly but surely digitally restoring their entire library for hi-def usage; blu-ray releases of that work seem like no-brainers to me.
