My Dad bought this D-Link Range Booster N USB Adapter to get my 20 GB Playstation 3 onilne to get get Netflix, however I don't think this is the right kind of thing. I have a wireless router in 2 rooms away from the Playstation 3. If this wouldn't work, please tell me suggestions what might.

Two things pop up at first sight. I don't think you can receive Netflix on a 20GB PS3, it doesn't have the memory it takes to accept Netflix. Also the range booster and USB adapter are for PC's and notebooks. Why not write to Netflix and ask them what is needed for you to successfully join the Netflix family. They will be able to help you out.

If Netflix has an app for 3DS, no reason this PS3 cant work with it.

Sorry about the delay, meant to post yesterday and got busy doing nothing (alien abduction or something like that might explain it ).

Anyway, I don't think that product would work, because Sony would have to make drivers for the PS3 to make it work. It's a product you plug into the device that is receiving the signal.

What you need is a wifi repeater or enhancer. What you do is you put that device in the next room and it picks up the original signal sends it on. You can get a second router to do this, but you would have to check to make sure it's compatible and through a bit of research, I've heard to stay away from D-Link and ASUS for this type of function, because apparently their routers don't handle it too well. I'd look on Google or Yahoo! or whatever search engine you like to use, to find the best solution. Otherwise, you could buy a 10 metre or I guess 33 foot or longer network cable and run it safely down to your room or some solution. I guess hacking holes in the wall is probably going to be frowned upon.

There is also another solution that I've heard of and you can plug a network into the power, via adaptors. This is called HomePlug Network and there are others like this too.

I've personally never tried doing any of this, but it's information you can mull over.

What kind of Wi-Fi do you have that it doesn't make the whole house wireless? I live in a Quad-Level 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home and my wife and I live in the Full-finished basement that has a bedroom, living room and bathroom and we have just ONE router that serves the whole house including three Blu-ray players, one of which is a 160GB Playstation 3.

The router is made by Netgear and it handles, flawlessly, the three Blu-ray players, two iPad tablets, two desktop computers, three laptop computers, and one netbook and two Nooks.

The router is located in the basement, and all the products it serves are up as high as the fourth level. We have no problem with the system.

Maybe all you need to a wireless connection to the PS3 and you are ready to go.

I am not real techno-savvy on a lot of things, but I know what we have and it works great.

The PlayStation3 is equipped with the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller, an AC power cord, audio/video component adapter and USB cable. Considering that this is one of the earlier PS3 models, the console does not support Wi-Fi connection. The PS3 connects online using an Ethernet connection (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T) instead. Bluetooth 2.0 technology connects up to seven wireless controllers to the system. This PS3 model uses a 2.5 Serial ATA hard drive with a 20GB capacity.

What you need then is a wireless access point/router, with network ports (RJ45 just like on the back of the PS3) just like these for example:

All you have to do is plug a short network cable in the back of one of these from the PS3, with the power adaptor of course and that should do the trick. Just go through the manual of the wireless access point/router to make sure it's setup right. The ones that are on the page above are network (wired and wireless) only, they do not have any ports to hook up to the telephone line.

You may have to enter passwords for the wireless, these will be on your ADSL (or whatever internet connection you have) router. they are to do with the wireless and not your internet provider. It will be something like WEP or WPA. It will be in the manual of the routers anyway, under security.

With this setup your wireless internet router should now be able to talk with the wireless router that is hooked up to your PS3.

You could buy one of those power line adapter things. It basically turns an electrical outlet into a network outlet. My friend's wife uses one because their wireless will not reach one end of the house, and she has no problems. It has 2 boxes. 1 plugs into the wall, then a cable goes to your router. You plug the other box into the wall near the PS3 and connect a cable from the PS3 to it.

Also if you know how to install DD-WRT, you could turn an old router/extra router into a wireless bridge. Doing that the extra router would connect to the PS3 via a cable, and then connect wireless to your main router.

If that model of PS3 doesn't do wifi, you'll either need a Sony produced device that plugs into the PS3 that allows it to receive wifi (does that exist?) or hard connect it via cable. Can't see any other way.

Yeah I've seen those before, and that's probably what I'll use. Ironically I was in a thrift store today and I found an AT&T version of the Powerline thing. It was about $3. Wonder if that will work....I'll do more research
