I thought that it may or may not be a good idea to keep a history of what Disney Animated Classics were released when. I also thought it would be good to have a complete list of what has and has not been announced so far. :)

If the film has been rereleased as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, is on Blu-ray 3D, or if it is currently in the Disney Vault, it will be noted on the side.

Nice idea. Could you also include the re-issues and the 3D re-releases?

I think it's interesting to note that in 2011 the U.S. recieved 7 DAC's on Blu, and so far this year there are only 5 (counting The Rescuers release as 1) confirmed. Since the previous track record suggests that we should either have the same amount as the year before or an increase of amount, which film do you think still have a shot for this year?

Since 101 Dalmatians and Tarzan have been mentioned for release in other countries, maybe the U.S. has a shot at both of them this year as well!

I have a feeling we'll get another one after Cinderella; there's quite a few weeks between October and January 1st. I think Dalmatians and Tarzan have a shot, too. I'd especially love to see Dalmatians in high def.

Great idea for a thread! It's cool to track how Disney has amped up their Blu-ray releases over the last few years as the format has become more popular. I have a feeling 2012 is going to be the best year yet! :)

(knock on wood) I think putting "Wreck-It Ralph" for release in 2013 with "Aladdin" is safe.

I agree. I'm going to bet we'll get more this year.

Done. :)

Me too. However, knowing Disney, they'll probably release them together. :(

Those 3's 3D re-releases should be listed in 2011. There should also be a seperate spot for their combo releases. Essentially. Each film has been released 3 times on Blu. Dinosaur has also been released twice. Once in 2006, then re-released without that obnoxious blu swoosh.

The idea of Hunchback on Blu-ray with it's sequel makes me cringe
Hunchback has always been the DAC closest to my heart. If this happened, I would probably be driven insane with rage. If Disney wouldn't treat the Lion King or Beauty and the Beast or Cinderella or any of its other 'prestigious' titles that way, why do they have to kick us fans in the face?

I'm not even a FAN of Pocahontas and the fact that it is getting its sequel slapped in with it makes me want to cry. I love Fox and the Hound. And I refused from the moment I saw they had included its sequel to buy it. And I haven't broke yet. I will not buy these cheapquels. Now, the Fantasia and Rescuers 2-packs...that I'm okay with, seeing as how they were THEATRICAL, Legitimate Walt Disney Animation Sequels and I was going to buy both films either way. But these Eisner-era abortions? Yeah, no thanks.

The idea of Hunchback even *getting* a sequel was enough to make me retch. Now the only thing I have to look forward to, it seems, about the long-awaited blu-ray debut of one of my top ten films of all time is crushing disappointment. It's depressing, to say the least. And we know they're going to do it. They've consistently treated Hunchback like a deformed child they're ashamed of and kept it locked away from public view, hoping we'll forget about it...OMG! Disney *is* Frollo!

Anyway, sorry to take this thread off-course with a rant. I love the idea of having all the releases listed in one place, so thanks for this thread. It's a great idea.

I disagree about making a separate spot for the movies that were released several times already on blu-ray. I like the way it is now - it keeps things simple. The point is to see which DAC films are being released to blu, not to be a comprehensive list of every release that Disney makes. That's my two cents, at least.

Thanks! I think we've needed a list like this for a while. :)

This isn't a DAC, but I could also see Disney doing a 2-Movie Collection of "A Goofy Movie/An Extrememly Goofy Movie" within the next 2 years or so. They announced it in a booklet for a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD a few years back as a DVD release, but they might've held back in the hopes of putting it on Blu. Just a thought.

I'm not as against sequels as others, but I completely get what you're saying. I love The Fox and the Hound the way you love Hunchback, and I haven't bought it yet either, even though I only have it on VHS. I've never seen the sequel, but just the trailer makes me mad.

But don't give up hope. It might not be released with its sequel. Lady and the Tramp is being released separately (although it's quite a bit more popular). Still, though, we've only had one so far that has come with its DTV sequel and news of one more for sure. Disney might not continue with this trend.

Thanks. :) I hold out hope that Fox and the Hound and Pocahontas BOTH will receive stand-alone releases. The thing that scares me though is when Disney couples films like Fox, Pocahontas and (potentially) Hunchback with their sequels, and then fans like us refuse on principle to buy them, that Disney just shrugs it off and chalks it up to those films simply not being popular. You know? I just wish there could be a petition or SOMETHING to let Disney know that we, the collectors, the true animation fans (and not the parents who use the TV as a babysitter) are disgusted by this trend and therefore have refused to buy them. And to suggest that if they DID release separately, we would buy them in a heartbeat.

And I love Fox and the Hound, too! But it tears me up every time I watch it. Easily the most heart-breaking of the Disney Classics, in my opinion.

Good list.
Hardly got any on Blu-Ray.
If I have it on DVD, I don't see the need to upgrade (yet).

I might do in the future, but I doubt a sharper picture quality will make me enjoy the films anymore lol.
The only DAC Blu-rays I've got were the ones released when I got a Blu-ray player lol

I also wish the damn DVDs AND Blu-Rays would open again with THIS grand opening

instead of these

Blu-Ray: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XtONqOMl68

I prefer the shorter DVD one over the Blu-Ray one, but the first link is the one that I prefer!
