Sweet! I love this movie! I'm definitely picking this one up.
On a side note, I'm also really happy to see Thumbelina coming out on blu as well!

Found the Blu-ray cover artwork on Walmart.com:
I think this is the same artwork they used on the most recent DVD release, but it's horrible. The colors remind me of Willy Wonka.

The cover is atrocious. The characters are horribly off-model. You're right, it has the same cover with the recently-rereleased DVD.
I mean WTF is this?

I feel I no longer have room to complain about Disney covers.

HAHA! True story!
I'd really love to know who works on these things. Do they hire the boss's nephew or what?

I think it comes down to the fact that whoever the artist is that is working on a specific cover probably isn't familiar with the movie and/or doesn't care enough about it to do things right.
As fans (artists or not), we appreciate the films and would put much more effort into making sure the cover represented the film we know and love. Unfortunately, those currently working on them probably just consider it a "9 to 5."
Oh well, this and the Thumbelina cover are tacky, but the strange thing is, sometimes a cover is so tacky that I end up liking it for that very reason, lol.

This is completely unacceptable. Children can draw better than this. This doesn't even look human.

That cover makes me feel a lot better about how off model I sometimes get, even with my own characters, ha ha. It's horrible though, and I hope that's not the final cover... Probably is though, I guess.
I'll have to pick this up, because I never upgraded from VHS to DVD, and I really have wanted to. Sucks if it isn't going to have the sequel on there though (which I still have never seen and looks terrible, but still, one of the DVDs comes with it I think).

Got bored this afternoon.
Probably should have made her hair darker, but you know how shiny they love to make everything on these cases.

Thanks! The colors still felt icky though so for the heck of it I swapped the background out with something from one of the original posters and went back to the old text:
I do wish people would actually put a little thought into these things, that awful red and yellow look absolutely nothing like the film (what are they doing above the canopy anyway?).

But as
MJW said, whoever worked on it probably isn't familiar enough with the film or doesn't care enough to do it right.

I won't claim my edit/repaint is perfect but I'd much rather pick up something like that off the shelf.

The new cover art you guys created looks amazing and so much better. Wish you could submit it and get the cover replaced with this one. So so so much better.

That's fantasitic, enigmawing! I never expect much out of Disney covers, and even less for the non-Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks animated films. I can't say I'm surprised FG's artwork is horrendous, but it is very sad.

Oh, yeah, you definitely should try and submit this! It is soooo much better!!! Amazing seeing the differences side by side!
