If I enjoyed the movie enough, then I would buy it. My first thought after I saw Tangled in theaters was, "I am so buying this movie when it comes out!"

Isn't Tangled an modern day version of Repunzel?

Yes and no. I wouldn't think of it as a modern day version, seeing as how it's not set in "modern day". I think it's an updated version and telling the tale in a different way. If that makes sense. Good movie, by the way. :)

To answer the original question: Yes, of course I would, and I do! :D It doesn't just go for Disney & Pixar movies either. If I loved a movie in the theater, I'll most definitely buy it when it comes out. Sometimes I even buy movies that I haven't seen in the theater. I'm picking up Cars 2 and Harry Potter 7.2 that I saw in theaters, and I'm picking up/have picked up the latest Pirates and Winnie the Pooh that I didn't get the chance to go see in theaters.

This topic is kinda pointless... isn't seeing a movie in theaters and then buying the ones one likes what people have been doing since home video began??

I was asking a simple question, Marce. What the hell is your damn problem.

I was going to say the same thing.

If I don't see the movie in the theater first, generally I won't buy it. That is how my collection has grown because all the movies I have seen in the theater that I want to again and again, are in my vast collection.

I have over 6,000 titles in my DVD and Blu-ray collection (only about 600 are in Blu-ray), and I still have about 100 VHS titles that have yet to be releaed in form of DVD or Blu-ray.

Were all 6000 titles bought legally or were most of them downloaded?

Yeah of course! I see the movie theater as not only a fun experience but a way of deciding which films to add to your collection. :)

I guess it really depends on whether or not you'd enjoy watching it over and over again?

my thought after seeing tangled was "i have to wait how long to actually own it?!" heheh.

as for the q, my collection is split down the middle. i own dvds for every disney/pixar film i can find, whether i saw it in cinema or not [ie, snow white]

for other companies, i base my purchase on past experience. with studio ghibli, i rented ponyo and fell in love with it. i bought it the next day. i then picked up howls moving castle, loved that even more, so went nuts. i am missing a few titles, but not too many.
