Q: Where are you with Pirates 5?

Jerry Bruckheimer: We're in the outline phase. We will lay out a story. We have a script, but we decided we could do better.

Q: How are things going with Disney overall?

Jerry Bruckheimer: I'm there until 2014 or 2015. I'm happy with them, and I think they're happy with me.

I know I'll be there when it comes out, but a lot of me really hopes this is the last one for real this time. I say get the Black Pearl out of that bottle, bring back her crew and let's have Jack and Barbosa duke it out for one last, glorious time and then let's be done with it.

This just my personal opinion of course, but I think the only thing worse then a movie series that gets cut short is one that goes too long. Some film series only really need a few films, some it works out better to go for some times with new films to further the story. If all movie series were 100% based on what serves the story, things would be much better. Sadly, that just isn't how things are done in Hollywood.

The Harry Potter-series has 8 movies, I don't mind if Pirates get's the same! Will continue to see the Pirates-movies as long as Johnny Depp is Jack Sparrow:)

Like I said before, as long as the acting, writing, direction, etc., is up to par with the rest of them, I don't care if they make 10 films.

Given that Lieutenant Commander Groves somehow avoided getting killed by all those undead pirates in "The Curse of the Black Pearl" and managed not to get stuck in Davy Jones' locker in "At World's End," will his character be returning for "Pirates 5" (which - if the rumors coming off the Disney Lot these days turn out to be true - production of the next installment in this film franchise should get underway sometime next summer after shooting of "The Lone Ranger" has been completed)? Greg doesn't seem quite so confident that his character will be returning this time around.

"The last we saw of Groves, he was being dragged off by this pair of soldiers. So I guess that he could have possibly survived the battle in the cave of the Fountain of Youth," Greg Ellis reasoned. "Tell you what. Let me go call Terry (Editor's note: Terry Rossio - along with his longtime writing partner, Ted Elliot - wrote the screenplays for "Pirates 1 - 4." But Rossio is supposedly doing a solo on the "Pirates 5" script) and see if Groves will be making an appearance in the next movie. Because I'd love to spend another summer shooting in Hawaii if I could."

So given that Gibbs survived Pirates 4 and was last seen in Captain Jack's company, does that then automatically mean that Kevin's character is coming back for Pirates 5? Kevin suddenly got philosophical when the topic of this pending sequel (which will supposedly begin shooting late next summer) came up.

"Who knows. Gibbs could get eaten by some off-screen sea beast between Pirates 4 and Pirates 5," McNally said. "Don't get me wrong. I love making these movies. I love working with two consummate professional gentlemen like Mr. Rush and Mr. Depp. But I'm not the one who gets to decide here if my character comes back or not."

"That said, I do hope that they bring Mr. Gibbs back. He seems to be the only sensible character in the Pirates series," Kevin continued. "Plus Gibbs usually occupies a very important role in these stories. He's the one who typically questions Captain Jack's motives. Which makes this character a very useful device, at least when it comes to clarifying key plot points for the audience."

You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not there’s no reason to do it. I really don't know what I think about this....the fourth was ok, but I felt that I was looking for the sparkle of the first but it just wasn't there. Especially as this as this was technically a fresh start.

I miss Will and Elizabeth even; the mermaid character and 'hero' were too weak to be interesting.

I will continue to enjoy the Pirates movies as long as Disney will make them and Johnny Depp will star in them, so bring it on I say^^ And I do hope that Philip and Syrena (the mermaid) will return.

If they want a super natural element to a fifth movie, I say send the pirates into the Bermuda Triangle where some weird sh** happens.

I'm glad they're having another film, the 4th had such a cliffhanger ending and I hope we find out what happens to Philip and Syrena. They weren't tedious like Elizabeth and Will were after the first film and I hope Barbossa and Jack team up again.

Also, I'd like it if they bring another myth into the story. Just no El Dorado way too many films have that myth in it.

I hear a lot of hate (online) for the 4th film, but personally, I loved it. It reminded me of the first in that it was a great yet simple, one-shot story. I could take as many Pirates films as they are willing to turn out if they are like that and up to that quality. While I liked A LOT about the second film (especially the new characters), I wonder if a trilogy story was a good idea, mainly because I remember being really confused whenever I watch the third (though, I haven't watched it much). I like 'em when they're one film stories. I did got tired of Elisabeth and Will by the third one. LOVED the mermaid stuff in the fourth (it was a big draw for me, actually, and did not disappoint), but I do agree with what some have said, that the male love interest was a bit weak. I don't know if it was the character or the actor that was causing the blandness. Not to be mean, but I think maybe the actor didn't have enough character to make that role one we wanted to see more of. Still, I would like to see what happened after she took him down under the sea.

Anyways, like I said, if the quality is up there, keep 'em coming, and I hope to see that sweet mermaid again. And, it'd be cool if that first mermaid came back too. Maybe the good mermaid and her guy could take to living a normal human life, or living as pirates, but the other mermaids are villains and come to retrieve her, ha. Just as a sub-plot.

The fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" installment became the most profitable of the series by grossing over $1 billion worldwide, and the film accomplished this without Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley.

The Daily Star now caught up with Bloom during "The Three Musketeers" premiere and asked the actor would like to return to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.

"I was quite sad not to be in the fourth and I really miss working on them," he said. "If they said they wanted me back, of course I'd do it. It's great to see the franchise still doing well."

Don't forget Marty! I want to see the Black Pearl crew make a come back! I've heard the speculation that these guys are all dead. But you know, if the the monkey and the parrot were still alive in that bottle, who is to say these guys aren't as well? Personally, I felt the weakest part of the last film was a lack of these characters.

To not have the crew come back would be the same as a "Star Trek" movie with Capt. Kirk and Mr. Spock, but no Dr. McCoy, Scotty, Checkov, Uhura or Sulu. The Captain needs his crew!

I would be really interested to know why you don't like them ... ? I've never really come across anyone who didn't like even the first one.

I agree with those who said that the storyline of the next film should revolve around the Bermuda Triangle, that sounds like it could be a great idea. For me, I would prefer that none of the characters from the previous films were brought back besides Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa; the last film was ok but I didn't think Blackbeard was particularly memorable and that the storyline between the missionary and the mermaid was really pointless and forgettable. It was an improvement on the second and third films which were a bit of a mess story-wise but didn't come close to matching the first. I would like the next one to have Jack Sparrow and Barbossa as enemies again and freshen up the cast with some new characters, maybe one or two famous real-life pirates but do more with them than they did with Blackbeard.

Q: What’s been the best part of your involvement with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and are you hoping to get to do another one soon?

Geoffrey Rush: The best part, for me, has been that the writers have managed to give an evolution to the character. He started out as this spat out from hell villain who was the bad guy and an evil dude. And in the course of the subsequent films, he used those particular powers to become a politician, brokering a G20 summit of pirate lords. In the last film, he went over to the other side and worked for the king. So, on that level, it feels as though I’m going into a new terrain each time, which is terrific.

And I believe, in the script that’s being developed for the fifth film, they do it with great care and consideration. The writers and Jerry Bruckheimer, as producer, can’t start a film like this, with a creative team that’s so huge and the amount of money that’s involved, without knowing that the script is in good shape. You can’t start shooting this sort of stuff, if there’s holes in it. But, as to when it will go, I know nothing.
