Of all the various afflictions that have sidelined big league ballplayers this season, there isn't one that will leave you more squeamish than what happened to Matt Holliday on Monday Night

The St. Louis Cardinals outfielder was just minding his own business in Busch Stadium's left field when a moth flew into his right ear and refused to come back out. The inner-ear invasion left Holliday in pain and he immediately left the field under the care of a trainer.

Say, where's Fredbird when you really need him?

Oddly enough...the same exact thing happened to me when I was 7 years old....I'm dead serious. Although I had some eartubes at the time....and it flew past the tubes into the ear canal....and here I thought I was the only this happened to ever. So from that day on I was deathly afraid of Moths and nick-named them ear-attackers....about until I was 12....

The Doctor told my mom over the phone to put ear drops in it maybe it would kill it ha ha (well I was 5 years old so my parents thought I was pulling a trick and being a brat)

and the ear drops did kill it.....I said I don't feel it flapping it's wings in my ear anymore.....so we went to the ER and one of the doctor's saw it and they used something to vaccum it out and that was painful and the bug came out...it was dead due to the ear drops or a number of other things....

That is a scary thing to have happen. Of course the best thing to do is not try to kill the bug, but rather have someone shine a flashlight into your ear. Bugs are naturally attracted to light, so they would usually fly or crawl out.

That’s creepy. I know the guy’ll probably be alright, but I still feel sorry for him. So gross.
