My collection is coming on quite nicely now, got some great bargains along the way.

I have a question though, maybe you can help.

I have read a lot on this forum about bootleg DVD's on e bay, and as i am now having to pay a bit more for my missing DVD's because they are out of print i dont want to end up shelling out for fakes.

How good are the bootleg DVD's,

Do they come with inserts ?

Do they have the Disney hologramme on the back ?

I ask this because i just got Lady & the tramp, and there is something just not right about it, It is in a black case rather than a blue one, it does have the insert and the hologramme, On the underside of the disc near the middle there is no writing etched into the disc like my other disney DVD's, also the cover has a slightly different design.

The certificate logo doesnt line up like all my other DVD's see picture for details.
so im wondering if its a bootleg, has anyone got a Lady & the tramp region 2 disc so we can compare a few things.

Hope you can help

It's not a bootleg, especially if it has an authentic-looking Mickey or castle hologram. The earlier releases did have black cases and a different cover design. The Lady & Tramp spine is supposed to look like that.

Thanks for that, My mind is nearly at rest now, just one thing that maybe someone can answer.

Is there any writing etched onto the underside of the lady & the tramp DVD.

You mean on the rim by the hole????
Yes, mine DOES have something etched in there....however, since I got my Lady and The Tramp in Singapore, it is written in Chinese...sorry, I only know Japanese!

It is a very tricky business going on eBay. Obviously, there is the constant concern about bootlegs, but I am just going to wiat until the Platinum equivalent comes out (as they all will eventually, I'm sure). That way you KNOW you are getting genuine product. Unless, of course, you have to have all the versions, then you are trickier territory...
