I kind of like this more than the first film. I have a DVD of the film that is signed by Bruce Campbell (at least I think it is. It has the word 'ASH" written on it and a sticker that said AUTOGRAPHED COPY on it).
So Anchor Bay releases the first Evil Dead film on Blu-Ray last year, now Lionsgate releases the second film? What hapened, did Anchor Bay lose the rights? Also, will this have a bonus disc like the first Evil Dead?

Yes. Anchor Bay lost the rights. Evil Dead II was a StudioCanal title and the StudioCanal library went to Lionsgate. To answer your second question; I dobn't think they'll be a bonus disc.

The Anchor Bay disc is fine by me.
Besides, I like the first film
A LOT more.

Ah... So that's the explanation for the completely retarded new release of Near Dark:
On the potentially bright side, however... maybe they can do something with Cemetery Man. I really don't think Anchor Bay / Starz' DVD was very impressive.

Okay... this is now officially the most impressive Blu-Ray selling transfer screencap lot I've seen to date. The movie looks INCREDIBLE. Dig that flying eyeball!

Amen!

Now here's a really awkward question from a former BCer, is Lionsgate still headquartered in Vancouver? I thought I read somewhere that they packed-up and moved their head offices to Hollywood, but I wasn't sure. I know they had there studios in North Van, but I thought I read they started leasing them out to some other production company.

I'm guessing Maple Pictures took over the Vancouver part of Lionsgate, I'm not sure.

I still can't believe Lionsgate got the rights to Studio Canal's stuff. Next thing you know, they'll be trying to sneak away the 3 episodes of HBO's Tales from the Crypt that they own.
(Yes, episodes- not the films.)
