Roseanne Barr enters 2012 presidential race

http://dailycaller.com/2011/08/05/rosea ... tial-race/
Roseanne Barr threw her hat into the presidential ring last night, announcing during an appearance on The Tonight Show that she would be running in the 2012 presidential election.

“I am running for President of the United States,” the former “Roseanne” star said as she was showered by confetti. “I’m totally serious, ‘cause I want to be part of the debates, because, you know, I want to represent the taxpayers.

Barr said she would be forming a new political party, the American Green Tea Party, to support her campaign, explaining that she’s “not for either party because they both suck and they’re both a bunch of criminals.”

The comedienne also announced that she would be selecting the American taxpayers as her running mate, explaining, “I want to put the questions to the panel about like where the hell did our money go. That’s number one.”

I'd take her over another Bush. At least she wouldn't throw us into billions of debt over the oil companies' war.

We don't need Roseanne for that. Any of the Republican contenders make Obama look a thousand times better than he actually is.
Dr Frankenollie wrote:On the bright side, even though she appears to know little about politics and hasn't got a chance, she's a left-winger.
Knowing little about politics (or knowing little about anything at all) is no longer a drawback in American politics. When Michele Bachmann can poll first place among conservative voters, *anybody* can run!

At this point, anyone who's not a politician, businessman, or a huge film celebrity(shes a vocal has-been tv celebrity) would get my vote.

Presidential elections are a joke anyway (and have been for decades). You could vote for I.P. Freely and it wouldn't make a difference for this country.

Ok, guys, regardless of where your political feelings lie, lets be serious here, she has no shot at being taken serious by enough people. At the end of the day, this will serve more to get her name in the news for a while again then anything else. She is something of a has been actor and I'm sure she'd like to be in the spotlight again.

That said, I'd love to see a serious third party that isn't far, far left or right emerge. Something more in the center. One, or maybe even two, that even if they did shift slight left or right, they would be more centralist then the Dems or GOP could ever be. If she wants that, I say more power to her. Maybe she'll start something. One could hope. Rational thinking may not be dead after all?

Of course! That's one of my favorite bits, though I think his timing is a bit off there (he was a bit too hasty for my taste), but the message was great. I posted it in the 'Human Rights'-thread on Off-topic (which I would go find the link to, if I weren't so lazy).

Wait... what?! The Democrats *aren't* centrists according to you?!

Well, you're actually right, they're more center-right than really centrist.

I wish there was a viable political party that was at least center-left. The left has no political representation in the US, aside from a handful of low-profile Congressmen and Senator Sanders (I- Vermont).

I don't know why a has-been tv star can't be taken seriously as a presidential contender. I mean, we had Ronald Reagan (has-been B-actor) and Sarah Palin (reality tv-star), not to mention Donald Trump, whom every tv station in the country took ridiculously serious!!! But because Roseanne is from the 'left', she gets ridiculed in the media? Of course, left-wing policies would be very bad for the corporate overlords who own all the 'free' media.
