Hmmm...I guess I thought all of these SEs were gonna be 2-Disc sets.
Maybe the second disk would be for that awesome DTS track?

It is probably 2-disc....it seems to be a standard marketing thing. Roughly the same amount of extras were spread over the LK1.5, weren't they?
Even if it is not, it looks pretty good as far as sequels go. To be honest, I'll be happen just to have it.
The "One by One" short is most appealing as a bonus - I think the trailer on the LK1.5 DVD said it was by the makers of the original TLK? It really should have gone on the TLK: Platinum in that case, but it will be good to have, nonetheless...
Looking forward to it...

Not to sound haughty, but I can't believe anyone is debating wether or not this will be a 2-Disc set. Why would Disney make the first two films 2-Disc sets, and not give the last one the same treatment, especially since it's already been on DVD before and is being touted as a "Special Edition"? Besides, I believe the trailer on Alice in Wonderland stated it would in fact be 2-Discs.
Despite the apparent short list of features, it looks nearly identical to The Lion King 1 1/2's release. Same types of extras, almost the same portions of featurettes and games. Plus, when a DVD has both Dolby Digital and DTS sound and still has some extras to boot, its almost granted the extras will be pushed to a second disc to make space.
Here's how I see it looking on the DVD:
DISC 1
- THX-certified 1.66:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
- Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1
DISC 2
Featurettes
- "Proud of Simba's Pride" Making-of (15:00)
- "Lots About Lions" featurette (5:00)
- "One by One" short (7:00)
- "Find Out Why" Educational short (5:00)
- Music Video
Games and Activites
- Timon and Pumbaa's Virtual Safari 2.0
- "Rafiki's Challenge" game
- "Prideland Play and Learn" game
Looks like Region 1 will finally be getting the Rafiki game, which was taken off The Lion King's disc, but included outside of Region 1 on The Lion King 1 1/2 (or The Lion King 3)'s DVD.

i'm wondering if maybe this 'trailers' section might not be a publicity gallery for ALL of the Lion King films. i know that's way too much to ask from Disney, but a guy can hope can't he? we never received any trailers from the first 2 films and maybe they are holding it all back for special features on this last disc. i dunno.

No you don't. Not if you've got even a single braincell. Take it from me.

Woohoo! We FINALLY get to experience 2099 and Luke's favorite game!
Which also happens to be the only DVD game prominently featuring my namesake.
Which is probably a good thing. He's better at giving out wise advice, anyway.

This sounds good enough, roughly the equeal of TLK1½, although I'm really disappointed at the lack of deleted scenes. The script at lionking.org has some good ones -- Nukia and Vaniti (sp) at Kiara's presentation, Mufassa talking to Rafikki about the outlander cub, and a post-credits Disneyland joke with Timon and Pumbaa. I'dve loved to see these restored to the film (if any TLK movie deserves an SE cut, it's this one), or at least on the disc as deleted scenes.
Major bummer.
Still, it sounds good enough, and I'd pick it up even if it was a straight reissue of the Limited Issue. So...yeah, these specs are pleasing. Let's just hope the cover art is, too.
Good to hear we'll be getting a Spanish track on this, too. Being a Spanish student, it's sometimes fun to turn on the dubs on favorite movies and see how much I can understand. The Spanish was sorely missed on TLK and 1½. I'm not going to buy another copy of it just to get the Spanish version, sheesh!

The early cover art for the Lion King II: SE DVD was posted on Animated-News. However, the early cover art for both The Lion King: SE and The Lion King 1 1/2 changed a few months before their DVD's' release.
See the cover art here:

Hey Mickey!! 'Tis Lindsay. Glad to see you join the UD forum!
However, we've
already discussed and picked over the potential SP cover art a while ago. Though I admit that AN's image file is
huge...

I dunno if you knew this or not Jake, but there's MPEG video files of several of those very deleted scenes you're referring to, shown in rough pencil form and
located here at LionKing.org (scroll all the way to the bottom of the page). Again, you may have already seen them, but since you referred to just the SP
script, and not the rough pencil scenes, I thought I might mention it. LOL
Those scenes certainly make things interesting, though. The film would have been even more sinister had those been keep intact. I can't believe that Zira's would-be suicide got that far before getting cut! 'Cause as intriguing as the concept is, it's still quite "un-Disneylike", and it's interesting that they were allowed to develop those scenes in the first place. Maybe there's just something in the water over in Australia...
I was kinda wondering if these scenes had a chance of being on the SE as extras, but since they're so "controversial", I'm not surprised they've been omitted in favor of the 7,231 other brainless set-top games and music videos.

Probably eventually.....
But it seems to be a major selling point for the LK2 disc - it was mentioned in the ad on the LK 1.5 disc....
Mind you though, it really should have gone on the TLK: Platinum disc. Even so, most of these shorts end up on multiple discs....

No, only the movie is THX Certified. I didn't correctly format my article. Sorry for the confusion. Let me fix the message.
I think the music videos will be of high quality though. I'm not sure if the music will be in Dolby Digital or Stereo.
