King Midas would not have starved to death

In the Disney Silly Symphony called the The Golden Touch King Midas wished that everything he touched would turn to gold and he got his wish. Soon he found out that his food turned into gold and he could not eat. Later King Midas was saved and nothing he touched turned into gold and he could eat.
Now let us say that King Midas was not saved and that everything that he touched turned into gold. King Midas still would not have starved to death. Even though food would turn until gold when he touched it he still would not starved to death. Does anyone want to guess why he would not have starved to death?

Actually, I've read somewhere that the moment food touched his mouth it also turned to gold.
Don't know if that's true though..

Because he was fat?
Because gold is nutricious after all? (but it has to be fluid)
I know, ridiculous answers, but I simply have no clue. I think SWilly's answer might be correct: because he's a cartoon.

Here is the thing. King Midas had a much bigger problem than starving to death. It seems that everything he touched turned to gold except air,his clothes and ground that he walked on. Since air did not turn into gold King Midas could breath. When King Midas tried to drink something his drink turned into gold.
King Midas could not drink any water and that is why he would not have starved to death. You see he would not have had time to starve to death. It takes weeks for someone to starve to death. But it only takes about 2 or 3 days for someone to dehydrate to death. Water is a lot more important than food.
So King Midas could breath but he could not drink any water. Since King Midas could not drink any water he would have died in about 2 or 4 days or maybe even one day. So King Midas would not have lived long enough to starve to death. He still would have died, but he would not have died from starving to death.

I feel like how everyone must have felt after the last episode of "Lost."

I wonder how long he would last on his urine. It wouldn't turn to gold because it's cursed like the rest of him.

I've never seen the last episode of 'Lost' so I don't know if my feeling would be the same in that case. Now I just want to bang my head (not too hard) and yell "of course!"

I don't think it's wrong to say I didn't really find this that good of a riddle. A lot of times the answers to riddles make you go "oh yea, of course!" but this one didn't feel like that to me. It didn't feel like an answer to me, it felt like...a technicality...or...a way of going around a solution. If it did for the rest of you, then perhaps it actually was clever. But he didn't even say it was a riddle. I thought he had found an error in the film or something.
Sorry Flower's Friend, but I will say this was fun for awhile!
