Disney movie suggestions to be part of the Diamond Editions

Well, Aladdin is not part of the line. Fantasia for some reason did not end up being part of the collection. Not even Alice in Wonderland or Dumbo have been announced to be part of it (which is obvious because they have been released recently). So the only Disney movies that could be part of the collection could be maybe The Rescuers or Tarzan maybe? What do you think?

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Hunchback and Hercules, which haven't gotten the special edition treatment yet!

Well... Hunchback I don't know. That isn't the most popular Disney movies.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is often criticized for for having an uneven story because of the mixing the adult themes with the comic Gargoyles and for not being close to Hugo's novel. The problem is they couldn't be close to the novel because the themes are very mature and children wouldn't understand it. The Hunchback of Notre Dame had potential of being really great, but I think Don Bluth or Dreamworks Animation could of handled the movie better since Anastasia and The Prince of Egypt had mature themes.

It seems Disney has just forgotten about Hercules. It made enough money, and as far as I heard there was no controversy about it, so why they haven't double dipped on this title when they did on almost every other is really beyond me.
I don't need Platinum or Diamond Editions for them. They won't get them anyway. Just a transfer from the digital files, and maybe some new featurettes, or otherwise what was already there from the Laserdisc releases.

I think Black Cauldron could be great for the line...if they'd get off their backsides and give the movie some decent features for once. Like a commentary of some kind, a decent length making of,...that sort of thing.

Aladdin, because only Platinum Editions should be Diamond Editions, no new movies.

Aladdin! That it was removed is crazy.
Also The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan and Tarzan.

Hunchback, Hercules, Aladdin, Tarzan and Atlantis. Yeah, I know the last of those might be a "One of these things is not like the other thing" to you, but I'd love a Blu-Ray release as good as the collector's edition and maybe even throw in an Atlantean language track just for fun.

Hercules, while sadly not as popular as Aladdin or The Lion King, has a better story and a nice following. This movie, along with The Rescuers and The Emperor's New Groove, is kinda underrated. These movies are liked by critics and audiences, so they do deserve good treatment.
I don't think the problem with Hunchback was because of the existence of the Gargoyles (they did play an important part as far as giving Quasimodo someone to talk out his thoughts to and thus sharing them with the audience. I would rather have him talk to them then to himself.) but was that their appearance sometimes were poorly timed (particularly 'A Guy Like You' since I don't even like that song) but no film is perfect and I think it is a Disney masterpiece that doesn't get the treatment it deserves. Very underrated. Hercules is underrated as well.

I would say Dumbo but the 70th anniversary edition was just about perfect (for me at least) so I'd say Hunchback! I really would love to see character designs, song writing process, and how they went about adapting it as a movie like we get with the Diamonds(Platinums really).
I know this is REALLY off topic but I have no idea where to ask: I bought the Rescuers Down Under earlier today, do I need to see the first one in order to understand this one? Would it ruin it if I watch them out of order? Thanks in advance!

Not relevant anymore. a non diamond edition can look just as good as a diamond edition, and a diamond edition can be short on extras all the same. At this point I think most people would just be satisfied with a blu-ray release of whatever movie at all.

Look, if "Aladdin" didn't make the cut, I seriously doubt films like "Rescuers," "Hunchback," "Hercules" or "Tarzan" will end up "Diamond Edition" films. And this from a guy who loves "Tarzan." The line up is going to include the ones Disney feels they will make THE most money from. Nothing against some of those other titles, I enjoy most of them myself, but none of them are "Lion King" or "Snow White" level Disney Animated Classics.

Though if we had our way, I think all the DACs would have Diamond Editions.

See the
Pocahontas: Masterpiece Edition dvd release.
I think most people's lists would be the same as their favorites list. But trying to think beyond favorites, I think most of the '90s films deserve recognition. They performed pretty well at the time, but Disney acts like they don't even exist these days. My poor
Hercules.

How about these movies as Diamond Editions (just suggestions, really!):
- Lady And The Tramp
- Cinderella
- Peter Pan
- The Little Mermaid
- 101 Dalmatians
- The Jungle Book
- Pinocchio
- Sleeping Beauty

Hunchback and Hercules. And pretty much everything else that's been suggested.
