Dalmatians easily. It's the least pretentious and visually striking Disney film made when Walt was alive. It's terrific.

And genuinely funny.

Definitely 101 Dalmatians. My absolute favourite Disney film, no contest. I think the story is great, the animation is unique, the villain is brilliant and surely one of the best Disney has ever had, a great song for the villain also. Lady and the Tramp is good too, but more generic if you ask me (villain, overall story, etc.) Still enjoyable, though.

The opening scene with Pongo looking out the window at all the other dogs and their owners is also brilliant.

Oh, I can't choose. I love them both. But because I have a "thing" for Cocker Spaniels, Peggy Lee and nibbling on a strand of spaghetti with my boyfriend til our lips meet, I'd give a slight edge to Lady and the Tramp!

101 Dalmatians. While both are great, I feel this one is superior. Great villain, and for once, I actually don't mind the villain's henchmen. I love Pongo and Perdita, and the opening scenes are fantastic.

Lady and the Tramp, but mainly because it was my dad's personal favorite; he even named our family dog Lady when I was growing up. He took me to see it on its last theatrical run, and he bought the clamshell VHS for me the following Christmas, which was my very first Disney video. It's still rather difficult to watch it without him now since I can remember all his favorite parts . . .

Their both not my favourites, but I like 101 Dalmations much more than Lady and the Tramp. Like other members said, Cruella is an amazing villain and the design of the movie is very beautiful. I'm just not a really big fan of animal love stories.

For Me, Lady and the Tramp, just because of the memories attached to that movie.

Both are in my top ten, but I'll pick Dalmatians for its suspense and humour.

Lady and the Tramp, without a doubt. I enjoy 101 Dalmatians, but I feel the film drags in between the puppynapping and the admittedly amazing chase climax. Lady and the Tramp's pacing is more consistent, and I find the characters more charming. Plus, I'm a sucker for Americana and prefer the more lush look of that film over Dalmatians' more sketchy modernist approach.

Lady and the Tramp. Don't get me wrong, I love 101 Dalmatians as well, and I feel that we are comparing apples to oranges here, but I am a sucker for a romance story, and Lady and the Tramp is a good one. Yeah, it gets very cliche many times, but I love the romantic atmosphere of it all. The animation is also one of the most underrated in the Disney canon. It's true that nothing really stands out as GROUNDBREAKING, but the characters are very smoothly animated and I REALLY love the backgrounds and the setting.

Plus, you can't go wrong with this scene...

Lady and the Tramp! Not on my top 10 Disney-list, but a charming classic. Never cared about 101 Dalmatians.

Same. Both in my top ten, but nothing in L&T measures up to Cruella.

Both fine movies, but my choice is for Lady and the Tramp. It's been in my Top 3 of Best Disney Features list for the longest time, because the art, story, and music are all among the best of anything Disney has ever made.

That is absolutely touching. That's the sort of father I want to be!

LATT for me too. 101 was disappointing to me story wise, half the story is slap dash comedy and was way to light.

101 dalmatians here.

i grew up on bill peets books and was amazed and ecstatic when i made the connection between the books and his name at the start of dalmatians. that lead me to basically swallow his autobiography in one sitting at the age of 8 or so. finding my favourite author was connected to my favourite movie company blew my mind at the time.
when i was about 10 or 11, i entered a competition to win a seri-cell from 101. i only put in one entry, so was beyond delighted when i actually won. that cell is hanging on my wall. i have no idea who drew it, but i like to think bill had a hand in it somewhere.

beyond that, i love the sketchy-ness of 101, the character design... pretty much everything about it. its not in my top 10, but i always enjoy watching it.

Anything with dogs in it I love. I think Disney animates dogs just beautifully. Pluto is my favourite Fab 5, the way he is given so much personality and character, just stunning. I think all Disney artists have animated dogs perfectly, like Nanna in Peter Pan, Oliver and Co, and of course the two movies we are discussing here. I love the opening scene of 101 Dalmatians, with the owners and their dogs walking by, sharing appearances, the whole movie is just a delight and lots of fun to watch, with great music.
But I have to say, Lady and the Tramp is probably my favourite Walt era movie. The animation is gorgeous, with just wonderful characters. I absolutely love the scene when Lady is put in her basket for the first night, and just cries and cries until eventually she ends up on the bed. The animation and character is just spot on. Love it!!!!

So definetly Lady and the Tramp for me!!!!

A very hard call, as I love them both. Lady and the Tramp is easily Disney's best from the 1950's and One Hundred and One Dalmatians is his best from the 1960's (not counting live-action Mary Poppins). They're very different in both style and substance.

I still have to go with 101 Dalmatians. I like the Xerox style more (thanks to Walt Peregoy); there's much more and better humor in it; the opening titles and opening segment with Pongo are hilarious; Cruella is a great villain, which is lacking in Lady and the Tramp; the story is much more exciting; it has better side-characters (Tibbs, the Colonel; Jasper & Horace). My only complaint is that the songs in both movies are very weak.
