The only thing I don’t get is they act like this really
means something. What exactly does Osama’s death have to do with the “War on Terror”? Osama didn’t act alone by any means, and terrorism will continue without him. They act like they’ve killed Hitler or something.
This’ll be a bargaining chip for Obama in the next election. Plus, it’ll be the government's excuse for finally pulling out of the war--”See! All we
really wanted was Osama--it was never about oil at all! Now we can leave.

”
Yeah…right.

It's hardly the END of this, but it's certainly symbolic, and not just to America. To finally kill the founder of al-Qaeda nearly 10 years after September 11 is still something. Also don't forget that he is a symbolic figure to al-Qaeda and the leader of the group. Additionally, this is happening in a part of the world that has seen some incredibly notable revolutions over the past few years (remember that whole kerfuffle in Egypt?) where citizens are attempting now more than ever to overthrow totalitarian leaders. Also, notice that no one with half a brain is acting like the efforts in the Middle East are over.
So, uh, yeah... while it's true there will be a new head of al-Qaeda and that this is not over, this is CLEARLY something. To say it's not is incredibly myopic.

You’re right. It changes the world because of its symbolic value. Just like Diana’s ring at Prince William’s wedding.
Also, myopic? "Intolerant, prejudiced, bigoted" Um--what?
Edit: Looked at Dictionary.com vs. Thesaurus. "Near/short-sighted" makes more sense, but I still don't get how that applies. Osama's death has absolutely no impact on terrorism. He wasn't the first terrorist and he wasn't the king of terrorists. He's just one man America used to pin "terrorism" onto.

While it's good he's finally gone (took long enough), one does have to wonder though who his replacement is and if they are considering revenge or not.

The death of a human is no reason to celebrate. No matter who he was, not matter what he did.

Yeah, that's your point of view (or your horizon, I believe it's the same in your case).

It means that some measure of justice has been served to the man who orchestrated and claimed responsibility for a horrific act of terrorism that killed around three thousand innocent people on 9/11. The "War on Terror" is not over but this is a decisive moment in it.

What?

This human planned the slaughter of thousands and thousands of innocent people in horrific and senseless terrorist attacks all over the world. After the loss of three thousand people on 9/11, an attack he orchestrated and put into action, he was recorded gloating and celebrating the deaths of those innocent people who died so I struggle to find any sympathy for this death when I think of the families who have been effected forever by his evil.

First of all, he allways denied a connection between al-Qaida and 9/11. Just because your government told otherwise means not they're right. Time to ask yourself why two towers which were constructed to keep staying, if airplanes crash into them EXPLODED from the BOTTOM.
Second of all, even if al-Qaida is responsible for these terror acts and even if Bin Laden "celebrated" the deaths of 9/11, if you do it like him, you are not a better person than him. It won't give you back your relatives and friends and it won't heal your pain, it just make you a little less humane.
Third of all, how many innocent people killed the US army in the last 20 years (your luck that Hiroshima doesn't count)? And how is it that those soldats will be defended all the time by Americans in the name of freedom (That's bullshit btw). Is the life of an American more worth than the life of an Foreign?
Fourth of all, there is no person who is absolute evil. The world isn't black and white, it's not a Disney film
For the record, I'm not saying that Bin Laden doesn't deserve to die. But after all he was a human like all of us. No one to grieve for, but a human. And all the pictures of people on ground zero celebrating this like an event make me sick. They show how callous and unethical our society really is.

I am not American, nor did I lose any friend or relative at 9/11. My own personal opinion is that now I feel a small measure of justice has been for all of those who died in attacks that Bin Laden had any involvement in, not just 9/11, who were killed regardless of their race or religion.
In regards to 9/11, Bin Laden did initially deny involvement but has since claimed responsibility for organising the attacks and implementing them. If you choose to believe that that is some kind of government cover-up or propaganda then you are perfectly entitled to do so but I am not going to get into a debate over 9/11 conspiracy theories or cover-ups simply because I, personally, don't believe them.
I would not say that I am celebrating Bin Laden's death, my overriding feeling is one of relief that such a dangerous individual is gone.

HUZZAH!!!!!!
Let the bells ring, let the trumpets play, let people shout and scream! Bin Laden's dead! Now maybe we can get things back to normal. No more wars, no more violence, all will be right (opposite of wrong) in the world.
