And this is rumor, very, very early stages, but here we go anyway:

While it sounds completely 'been there, done that', this hasn't been successfully pulled off in quite a while. The Prince and the Pauper and Mickey's Christmas Carol worked because they weren't feature length. Could they really successfully stretch it out to 90 minutes?

Also, in my Dutch time zone, it's now officially friday. And we all know what that means!!!!

Ugh. I wasn't too ecstatic about a new Pooh film (until I saw the artwork...), but this just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

Well, it is just a rumor.

What could perhaps interest me is if they freshen up Mickey's character a bit, though. He hasn't been interesting since the 1930's.

And I *still* don't know what that is about, who that girl is and why she's posted on UD all the time.

And yes, Mickey, Donald & Goofy sounds very much "been there, done that", but okay, with Disney playing safe with Winnie the Pooh, I can't say I'm really surprised. It seems that Disney doesn't *want* to change or doesn't *want* to gain new audiences. After the forced "look, it's a 1990's musical" Princess and the Frog and the very conventional Rapunzel, we're now getting installment no. 8257839 in the Winnie the Pooh series and, supposedly, a new project with the mouse, the duck and the goof. I just hope they won't let this one be animated at a Phillipean cartoon factory, like they did with The Three Musketeers.

Have you forgotten about The Nifty Nineties, Mickey and the Seal, Symphony Hour, Mickey's Christmas Carol, The Prince and the Pauper and Runaway Brain? And don't you include the comics?

I tend to think of (some of) those as exceptions to the rule. And, to be honest, I've never read a single Mickey Mouse comic.

I don't see why not. A Goofy Movie worked.

Too bad you've never read a Mickey comic. If you want to, you can read the classic newspaper comics by Floyd Gottfredson her:

Somewhere in the mid-1940's they begin to get uninteresting, as Gottfredson was following Mickey's development in the shorts, where he turns into a dull house-mouse. So in that regard, you're right Mickey had become dull and the shorts I listed were exceptions. Mickey's comics in the 1950's through the mid-1990's weren't very exciting either, but the Danish editor (which publishes in all of Europe) has given him new life in more adventurous comics, aimed at recreating that 1930's feel, but in a modern setting.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I knew the internet was a gathering place of the most senseless and immature jerks, but trashing a 13 year old girl... really?! I mean, I don't like the clip, but at least she's *doing* something. She's trying. It's just soooooooo easy to make fun of some 13 year old kid. Even if I think the video is totally wortless, I would applaud her for trying. People making fun of her probably don't have the guts to do something like that and post it online. I seriously LOL'ed at the "Bob Dylan-like version", even though it's an insult to his lyrical brilliance. But the singing is spot-on.

They're not trashing her but more so for the lyrics in the song. Which is hilariously bad. That's what they're making fun of. In fact she and that other girl actually found the video lame themselves and make fun of it as well.
That and the song was auto tuned anyway.

Well, hopefully we'll also get other stuff too, like King of the Elves or Reboot Ralph, if they ever officially announce them that is.

And Rebecca Black, c'mon, leave that poor kid alone, I haven't watched the video, but I do belive it is as bad as everybody say it is, but are people are really going to make fun of her admittedly amateur only done for her birthday video?

You wanna make fun of something viral and incredibly bad, go for "Birdemic", at least the makers of that movie actually expected us to take it seriously.

Black chose "Friday," as "the other song was about adult love – I haven't experienced that yet. 'Friday' is about hanging out with friends, having fun. I felt like it was my personality in that song." Ark Music handled the song's recording, which used the pitch-correcting software Auto-Tune. Kelly had some doubts over the quality of the lyrics, Black assured her that "I sang it as they wrote it, Mom."

She didn't DO much other than get mommy to spend $2000 to make a music video. It's not like she's some struggling artist who sweated over writing the song.

Yes, she is just a thirteen year old girl, but if you're going to have your parents pay Ark Pedophile Factory thousands of $$$ just to get yourself one shiteous pre-written song (evading the main auditions even, so they probably paid A LOT more), you're going to have to face the consequences. I've had it with these dumb rich kids thinking they can just buy themselves a career. Nobody likes her, and a song about fried eggs is not going to change that. Aside from the HIGHLARIOUS lyrics, it's pretty sad that this girl is actually making thousands of dollars from that crap.

I think it shows the interest of this board when a thread which is about a potential new movie from Disney is turned into a discussion about arguably the most overused viral sensation this side of Rick Astley.

As for the rumor, I'm honestly kind of interested. I'm always up for new adventures of the Disney crew, and by that I don't mean Playhouse Disney crap, but rather projects made by a staff who cares about telling good stories with Mickey and the gang. Be it a feature film or a couple of feature shorts, I'd be up for something like this.

And I second Mark/Goliath- the Gottfredson comic strips are fantastic. Possibly some of the best Mickey stories out there.

Well, maybe if Disney had more animated features with interesting concepts in actual production, like other companies, we wouldn't digress so much.

But yeah, it's been like a week, when it's the "Friday" craze going to die? We need another viral sensation! Get to it internet!

I think people aren't that excited yet because 1) he hasn't even pitched the storyboard to the executives yet, and 2) even films that do get the greenlight usually take ages before they get made. Provided that it even gets made it'll probably take half a decade before we get to see it.

So, that and the obvious lack of info. It's a good idea to mix the characters together, done before, but it could be pretty good. That's pretty much it though. There's not much to discuss I think.

Something had better become of this. Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are overdue for their next animated adventure (that doesn't involve teaching pre-schoolers about colors and junk).
